I am not sure how you do math bro but £2060 profit on a £7210 price is not a 40% margin. It is correct that they added 40% to the price of what they paid you, but it is incorrect to claim they have a 40% margin when selling it at £7210.

Thanks for sharing though, interesting to learn how they operate. Explains also why they have room to allow offers and accept lower.
He’s saying (& from what I remember being quoted and seeing their list prices for) is WFS markup from buying (from the punter) is 40%.

Not really an enabler, but a quick response on Watchfinder's margin, which is 40%. I sold this watch to WF for £5,150.
Was the same when I looked selling my McQueen C11 for on them. Was offered 40% from the price they were listing others at.

Guess helps have some bargaining room with them if purchasing.

Selling price - Purchase price = Profit. That's what WF sets to earn on the sale of the watch if a sucker ends up buying it at the listed price. This of course includes admin costs. But the margin calculation is quite straight forward

Frankly that's fairly standard margin for any dealer who'll buy your watch

Didn't know that, I was naive enough to think that a 20-25% mark-up was normal. Possibly helps to still earn a profit after discounting the price after such a high mark-up.

Indeed and £7210 - £5150 = £2060 profit, which is not a 40% margin.

£2060 is actually 28,5% of £7210, which would then be their margin if they sell this Monaco for £7210.

Anyway, just technicalities and who gives an F, we understand the point, sorry for being a pain. I totally get that you were upset with the fact that WF adds 40% on top of what they paid you 👍

I used margin interchangeably with profit, my bad.

Honestly I'm not upset about the selling price. I had the watch up for sale for a year now and did not have any interest even at £5000. So getting £5150, with free insurance and shipping is still a win for me 😀

Will be interesting then to see whether WF can shift it for 7k

I would think so. Especially one that holds thousands of watches in stock and has brick and mortar stores in London (and other places)... plus you have to think some watches take a while to sell and end up getting discounted.

Plus, I know it's easy to bash Watchfinder but I've had pretty good experiences with them. I've also had some good deals off them like my carbon Solargraph which I paid about 45% off list price for.

Good example of a 2446C, for what seems like a decent price.

Full set.$57k AUD.
I reckon it's pretty good buying.
Do you remember what the AUD retail price was in 2019?

USD retail was $39,950 for the Box Set. Which is close to the 57k AUD price based on today's exchange rate. I'm guessing 57k AUD might've been Australia's retail price in 2019.

That’s quite a hit on RRP for a very nice looking watch. Prefer the Orange personally, but this is only slightly behind.

Yeah, for sure the orange is betta. But still a pretty tidy discount for an unworn watch.

Most definitely. This is a cool piece for sure. Do like that in fairness.

Interesting one, have very rarely seen Grand Carreras in the secondary market. $2500 but watch only.
