afternoon all.

Just got this for approximately £150.

Now, I have googled the model code on the case back and had a good search via images, but would be very grateful for any information about model year/movement from you experts.

Many thanks in advance!

Welcome to the forum Barchettaman.
Nice bargain! This one first appears in the 1996 catalogue, and then it's never seen again and the S/EL is discontinued at the turn of the century, so safe to say it's 20-23 years old or thereabouts. Looks like it needs a strap that fits the case, but other than that it looks pretty tidy. Does it keep good time?

Thanks!
It’s not arrived just yet, but will post back when it does.

Looks like a tidy little automatic watch, and a replacement strap will sort it out nicely.

Be aware that the straps for the Sel require a special end piece to fit the unique case shape of the Sel so aren't that cheap.

Do they? This looks pretty normal.... unless it's curved maybe?

This is an official strap for the Sel:

There is then an end link that matches to the notched end of the strap and connects to the case lugs.

Have a look at the photos of the watch, this is the later model without the centre spigot. I much prefer the ones you are talking about if I'm honest...

So it is. It must be an Sel Leather then.

I’ve done a bit of research too, and reckon it’s an s/el 1994/5 with the ETA 2892 automatic movement.

I’ll stick it on a NATO strap, I think.

Many thanks all for the information so far. As previously mentioned I will post some more photos when it arrives.

The bezel looks a bit worn so I might try and re-black the numbers with some black enamel paint.

More importantly... how did you get into that part of the TAG website?

I’ll be sure to post a few photos of it on a NATO strap as you’re all so excited at the idea!

Ha. That photo is from the TAG Heuer boutique in Brisbane. I knew the service manager quite well (he doesn't work there now and the boutique doesn't even have a service manager - in fact that boutique seems to be going down the drain) and we did a fair bit of research on getting a strap for my Sel Chronometer. The default end link was gold (yuck) so we had to search around for a stainless steel one and I wanted a brown strap to provide some contrast to the blue dial. He let me take a photograph of the strap and reference so I knew what to order in the future.

I wish. Access to the online TAG Heuer parts catalogue would be awesome.

Thinking ahead, do any of you know the lug width? 18mm or 20mm?

The watch is in Frankfurt customs apparently.
