·The only quartz that used the 844 designation in catalogues was the 8440. When it switched to Swiss made it became the 980.006, which the dial is 100% from, as Swiss made and the spelling of professional. The dial looks pristine, so would be a bit strange for the hands to need replacing, but the dial is immaculate?
There has been discussion before about whether quartz was added to casebacks and dials on 844 marked cases, maybe as a repair. It could be that production switched and they had 844 cases to use, and so a mix of Swiss quartz dial, French quartz movement and 844 Auto case we’re married together.
The oyster bracelet was never delivered on any of these watches that I’m aware of, with only the Jubilee bracelet or a tropic strap available.
The bezel insert is of the French made Monnin type as it has no metal tram line on the inner edge next to the crystal, but appears to have a gap - maybe an illusion?
All part of the fun of digging for answers.
