Has anyone owned one of these? A really clever piece of design: - Weight of 55g (about 1/3 the weight of a standard watch) - Titanium case - Can absorb shock of 5000G (45X shocks during a game of golf) - ETA 255.411 Quartz movement - And, of course, developed with Tiger Woods It's never been one on my radar, but I do think it's a brilliant piece of design. The designer was Ross Lovegrove. He's a well-know industrial designer (see his site here) who was appointed as head of TAG Heuer design in 2002.
The first model was Ref. WAE1110 which was a limited edition of 4000 with Tiger Woods signature on the dial and caseback. About six months later the standard production model followed (WAE1111). The other model was WAE1112; 2006; White dial and strap Then in 2008/9, the range was split in two: - Professional Golf Watch (WAE1111 and WAE1112) - Professional Sports Watch (WAE1113 and WAE1114)- Black and Pink dial/ strap respectively You can see the difference in the design of the two ranges- Golf on the left and Sports on the right
I never realized this model had such an intricate design. Not necessarily like all the elements of this particular execution, but I certainly would love to see more advancements in strap design for all other models. The current clasp in leather bands stick out too much and can get scratched when typing on a notebook computer. It bothers me so much that I take my watches off to avoid any scuffs.
37.5 mm (6 to 12 o’clock) x 36.7 mm (3 to 9 o’clock) x 10.5 mm thick....so, about the same size as a Calibre 17 Monaco, but thicker
