Okay, so... three brands the company is known for. Carrera - yes. Monaco - yes. Autavia... really? I can see why he overlooks the Connected, but hello... .Formula 1. Formula 1 has been in production for thirty two of the last thirty six years, the Autavia not so much. Plus the F1 is probably the second biggest seller after the Connected. One of the first watches people think of when you say TAG Heuer is the Formula 1, but I guess they don't want to talk about that cos it's too 'entry level' and didn't originate back before the quartz crisis.
„There are three main models the brand is known for, and they’re all chronographs.” Cuts to a three-hand Carrera
I didn't say it was a good video Yeah, I noticed the 3 hand Carrera right after he said chronographs as well - pretty painful. I guess it's good to know how others view the brand, though. This guy looks like he was given a brief to do a 2 min video on TAG but didn't really know anything about them beforehand.
Well yeah, I mean, less important than the FORMULA 1 obviously but still what a lot of (old) people think of when they think of TAG Heuer.
If it makes you feel better, at least the heritage director recently gave some love to the F1. Normally he's focused on vintage Heuer or new model tributes.
I can't imagine they'd consider making cheap plastic versions of the Monaco, Carrera or Autavia. LOL Best thing they could do is bring back the original F1 just as they used to look, but in 38mm or 39mm instead of 35mm. Make it a special re-edition for a limited time only production run. Play on it's heritage as TAG Heuer's first watch, post Heuer. Price it under $400 and I think they'd sell like hot cakes. Or maybe not, perhaps they'd only appeal to old buggers like me who have nostalgia for the original.
Yes, that's what I was alluding to would be a great idea. A "revival" of the original TAG Heuer F1s, to be offered in multiple colors and accessible prices, so they become collectibles.
Yes, but then you can buy the originals for half that.. albeit in 35mm. I guess that would push the price of the originals up though. So yes, awesome idea!
That would be super cool. I'd buy one just for the lulz. ...unless I had to queue at a TH boutique for days and then get told to go away by the poor staff who don't have any watches to sell.
If TAG did this, I'm assuming they'd be pitched at a price level above the Moonswatch. They would be proper TAG Heuers presumably, rather than the Moonswatch which was really just a Swatch watch with Omega on the dial.
