Tag have quoted £550 for repair which is basically a new head unit.
They have also offered a discounted upgrade fee which was quite a good offer but I am going to push the retailer to escalate my complaint.
I have read through the instruction booklet and also the pamphlet on how to look after your device and NEITHER state you have to change the watch face regularly to avoid screen burn.
Not sure how successful I will be but I'm still pretty pissed off tbh.

I have faced the similar issue, watch is out of warranty since 8 months... did you get positive feedback from TH regarding the issue. They did not state possible screen burn and no advice to change WF frequently. I was changing my WF almost everday for longtime. But i keep same face for somedays not a week. Today watch is like this

That’s sad @Ozgur73 🤔... yes, of course the advice of changing the watchface very often (maybe daily?) to avoid the AMOLED burn-in should be written in the owner’s manual. And also the advice to not let the watch on the charger overnight (or during many extra hours once is at 100%), which -according to the TH customer service- also helps the burn-in issue

Tag offered me an upgrade to the Tag Connected 2020 for £750 because they couldn't repair the watch, but didn't admit culpability despite the instruction manual not detailing anything about changing watch faces etc.
Tag didn't return the watch head unit or lugs, but after selling all of my other accessories for £200, it felt like I was getting a brand new watch for £550 which I was satisfied with.

Not so bad then, did you still have the option of a new gen 2 watch head to buy at a reduced price or are they totally out of them ? Why did you send them the lugs ? Just the watch head is needed, you could have sold them 😉

I learnt the hard way I'm afraid, regret sending the lugs!
They didn't offer me a modular watch head or a repair, so presumably neither were an option.

Wow that screen is gone, did it just happen or did you notice it degrade over time. Is a darker face viewable ?

Yes never send more than you need to. You could have bought a second hand watch head on eBay for 2 to 300.
Anyhow, how are you finding the new 2020 watch both technically and quality feel wise ?

Darker background covering the mess a bit. I have noticed 3 months ago and seems like getting worse...

Well, at least that is usable. Try tags own installed watch faces also. Very bright faces look good but will damage the screen for sure if used a lot. I have same problem starting on my oled tv

Very pleased and love it,only slight issue is the battery life which I'm gonna create a different post on.
