TAG Heuer Bicester Village Lockdown Info

Interesting to hear that it's different in America.

The York store has closed now, I only went there three times and it wasn't that great. Bicester is definitely the one that gets the best stock. I've been to Cheshire Oaks many times and they have good stock, but Bicester Village is now the number one tourist attraction in the UK (above Buckingham Palace) so it's not surprising that they get the best stock.

It is pot luck, I've seen all three bullhead Carreras in the store together and while I wouldn't buy them, if you really like them it's a fantastic opportunity to get them at a big discount with a two year warranty.

I think really, the outlet is what it is, it's an opportunity which depending on your taste might be rewarding or it might not. I have bought four or five watches there myself and my wife has bought two or three, over 8 years or so.

Some of the watches are really old, some are new. It just depends... but at 30-50% discounts you can't really complain.

Lots of stuff there that's quite tempting, looks like tag have dumped a lot of stock.

@kappa_md great to see someone with the c72 aquaracer! I saw them at the York outlet and was very taken with them

Thanks sir @dtf 👍 Appreciate it very much! Of my current three Aquaracers, this one gets the most wrist time since I can clean/wash it everyday 😀

People get curious to what watch I’m wearing since the dial & watch is not very familiar, then they get surprised it's a TAG Heuer. And then I tell them, Yup, I'm a big fan 😉

I don't think TAG have made anything for the outlet at all, not that I'm aware of
What about the CAR2210? I think I'm right in saying that was outlet only.

As for the smaller box of chocolates, that sounds like you've been shopping at B&M! Even their Mugshots are smaller than the real thing...
The funniest was a round tub of chocolates I saw in Poundland. The tub had some depth to the sides so from the outer edge it looked like the box was full, but the tub had been sculpted to deceive - it sloped up underneath towards the centre. It got narrower and narrower so that there were actually no chocolates in the middle at all - only a few situated around the edge of this tub. Of course you couldn't see that from above because of the lid, but only if you looked underneath. 😀

Not really fair though, it is not like systematically creating products solely to put through outlets

"the Carrera that was intended to be sold through the normal channels, before it was cancelled late in development. Instead of scrapping the watch altogether, it was decided to make small numbers of the watch available through the TAG Heuer outlet stores."

Oh really, I did not know that. I know there are boutique only things that end up at the outlet, but I didn't know they'd made anything specifically for outlet sales. I have noticed that they do make some bracelets that look identical but are cheaper. You often find these on Amazon for example, so you have to be really careful that you are not getting tricked. They had two Calibre 16 (IIRC) Links in Bicester once and they were £400 different and I could not tell the difference at all, but one had the cheap bracelet on it.

Hahaha, it's disgraceful really.

And I doubt it was made any differently to be fair. It was just as crappy as all the others.... JOKE!😲

I don't know if the story about it originally being widely available is true or not, but it was certainly turned into an "outlet" budget piece. Just not quite as good or well made as a "proper" Carrera. To quote DC in his article on this watch:

"Efforts have been made to keep the costs of this Carrera low, given that it’s being sold through outlet stores, and you notice this when you see the bracelet."

Ok that sounds really bad

Re-reading the article it does point out that the dial is printed rather than applied, which is a bit weak...

It an alright looking watch, Carrera formula, but it doesn't look any better finished than a Tissot PRC200 imo.

The Bicester Outlet has random stuff, but that's cool. It's stuff I missed first time around, or stuff that was never available in the UK in the first place. I like hunting for things that are a bit different.

I like the outlets. Have picked up a few items there - In fact over 1/2 my Heuer collection came from the CO Outlet. I agree they do tend to have a lot of dross - then again that’s more to do with the source product range so equally applicable to ADs, there can be some great gems there too. So it can be hit and miss if you make a special trip.

But always a good visit as the staff are very friendly and there’s usually something worth looking at - even if not always tempting enough to buy.

All this Outlet talk makes me wish we had an outlet here in Australia.
All we get is 2 Boutique stores in Melbourne.

Some Jewellery Stores that carried TAG are going away from them and there remains not many.

My Boutique experience has always been A1 so no complaints at all.

These Karl Lagerfeld mugs came from Bicester... well worth the £35 they cost.😲
But cheaper than the stated £60 list, and having visited Karl Lagerfeld's Regent St store I can well believe it!
Fun facts about Karl Lagerfeld; he loved his cat Choupette so much that he wanted to marry her and his cat has actually earned £3M from modelling. Also Karl only ever drank diet Coke out of a wine glass....
