Has anyone used a suede strap for their Monaco, or any other watch? I'm thinking if getting a custom suede strap made, but I'm not sure how it would look and feel. Any feedback will be appreciated.

 

I have had a couple of suede straps. I had a custom made one, can't remember from where, and a JPM suede strap (which I guess is mid-priced, about £70-80ish). The were comfortable, but I was a bit disappointed with the look both times to be honest.

 

Did you face any issues with discolouration or water splash marks?

 

Got a suede leather for my F1 Gulf for a longer length. I quickly found it's a lint/dust collector. Maybe toooo much suede?
Was a cheapy tho.

 

@YG_Rulz maybe you could consider alcantara, no such issue with my Speedy strap?

That's something I'm concerned about.

I finally managed to find a strap maker with Kudu antelope leather for a strap, but they only have suede leather available. Alcantara would be a good option too though - worth checking it out.

 

No, I didn't wear them enough for that I guess

 

Even the OEM leather Gulf strap, with its "asphalt" alcantara like finish, collects lint/dust. I think that's a drawback for anything with this kind of suede like texture, especially if it's a dark color.

 

Can they be made thin enough to work well with a Monaco clasp I wonder?
