Gold ... pfft. That's for peasants. We'll make a meteorite dial with platinum hands and a diamond cabochon on the winding crown, like the stone they have on Cartiers 馃榿馃榿

If TAG Heuer can get their dates & history correct, 2024 is the 35th Anniversary of the "Senna" S/EL Ana-Digi Split Seconds model.

Yeah, yeah we know about the Monaco, the Carrera and the Autavia. But what about the TAG Heuers?

2024 - 25 years of the Alter Ego
2025 - 25 years of the Link
2026 - 40 years of the F1
2026 - 35 years of the 4000 Series
2026 - 35 years of the 1500 Series
2027 - 40 years of the S/EL
2027 - 30 years of the Kirium
2028 - 20 years of the Grand Carrera
2029 - 35 years of the 6000 Series
2029 - 25 years of the Aquaracer
2029 - 25 years of the Microtimer
2029 - 25 years of the SLR
2030 - 20 years of the Golf

Not that I can see TAG Heuer celebrating any of these... maybe 40 years of the F1?
Are you using the catalogue appearance as the basis for these anniversaries? In many cases, the watches are actually introduced and available for sale the year prior to when it first appears in a catalogue.

Sometimes even earlier. As we previously discussed, the 6000 was introduced in '92 but didn't make a catalogue appearance until '94. Thus, the 35th Anniversary will be 2027, not '29.

Since I don't have a time machine, yes I'm using the catalogues (or rather I'm using my History posts). I mean I assume some catalogues would come out before the date on them. If you were printing a catalogue now that you expected to run into 2025 you'd print 2025 on it right?

And like I said last time, Horner had the Monza carbon in 2022, still a 2023 watch to me.

I'm just calling this out because accuracy matters if you start a celebration like you're doing with the Aquaracer this year. You should cross reference with other sources besides just the catalogues.

Some of the anniversaries you list are not correct and will not be in sync with what TAG Heuer might publish. For example, TAG does state the 6000 was released in '92.

Here's another example, Rob. You state the 1500 will celebrate 35 years in '26, which means a '91 release. But this is off by a year.

TAG Heuer's website states the following:
--
The Series 1000 watches would be replaced by the Series 1500 collection, with the new watches being introduced in 1990 and making their first appearance in the 1991 catalog.

If I thought TAG Heuer cared then I might be more careful.

Do I even trust TH to get their own anniversaries right?

If I start any more anniversaries I will be sure to check my facts.

But really I don't think there are any worth doing. The Aquaracer was a stretch as it was.

I was thinking more about the TAG Heuer enthusiast community at large. Your "History of..." series is very much appreciated and widely viewed, but the release dates aren't always correct. Because it's fairly common for models to be released in the year prior to its catalogue appearance.

I know from firsthand experience that relying on the catalogues alone is often not enough. What made me think about it is the SEL ana-digi model. Which doesn't show up until the 1990 catalogue. Yet I know from visual confirmation that it was released fairly early in '89 and is also stated as a '89 release by an article in TAG Heuer's Edge Magazine.

I believe that the postings on the TAG Heuer site, covering the history of the TAG Heuer models, are based on the postings that David did on Calibre11.com. Perhaps they "fact-checked" his postings, but I expect that most of the information is from the Calibre11.com postings.

Yes, I believe this as well. When Calibre11.com was still viewable via the WayBack Machine, I compared some of the history articles being built on the TH website to DC's work. I could tell it was his, as some sections were lifted almost verbatim.

DC did a good job of fact checking on his own. He would often cross reference multiple sources when he was unsure of something. So, I have confidence in that part of the TH website, like the history of the 1500 series etc.

According to the TAG website,

Titanium 1983
Executive - No launch date (super helpful)
Aquaracer 2004
SEL 1987
Super Pro 1984
1000 Series 1979
1500 Series 1990
3000 Series 1984

They don't have pages for the Alter Ego, SLR, Golf, Microtimer, 4000 Series, 6000 Series, Kirium or the Link.

Astonishing to read that the Executive cost 5 times as much as the 1000 Series.
