During Basel I had dinner with the team from Worn&Wound- great guys with a real passion for both watches and hand-made straps. I thought this article they wrote didn't get the coverage that I would have expected from Basel- Ronda's first mechanical movement in "years"- the R150 http://wornandwound.com/2016/03/24/ronda-r150-the-most-important-news-out-of-baselworld-2016/ TAG Heuer would seem to have it's "post-ETA" supply secure now thanks to it's strong relationship with Sellita, but I can see the Ronda R150 being important for the smaller end of the market. Who knows? Maybe we'll see it in a future TAG Heuer?
I read this before and thought the same about the lack of coverage. It's certainly good news for the smaller brands who can't or don't want to tool movements themselves. It will be an interesting few years for movements.
From my understanding from watching the recent video interview with JC Biver, Tag Heuer seems to be on a long-term course to produce all their watches with in-house movements. At 10:40 in the video, he says that they hope to have 90% of their watches have in-house movements by 2025 and 100% by 2030.
