Resetting a modern quartz Formula 1?

I was out to dinner with a friend the other day and I noticed the hours subdial on his quartz F1 hadn't reset to 12, so being clever (so I thought) I offered to reset it for him. But it seems the new F1s don't work the same as my 1/10 chronos. I pulled the crown out to the 3rd position and pressed the pushers but nothing happened. The chronograph seems to be working fine otherwise, so I'm curious to know what I was doing wrong...???
