Real or fake

Bought a watch off an old 'friend' he says it's real but I've looked at back and there's no serial number on back. Do all tags have them there

Based on that photo alone I'd say that it's a replica.

It's meant to be a version of this watch (not sure on the size)

Note the different links on the bracelet, the middle ones should also be polished.

Would need to see more photos, but to me it's not an obviously genuine watch

I'm going with fake, the text on the bezel doesn't look as sharp.

There have been two versions exclusive, one with the normal TAG Heuer 2000 bracelet and the later model with a special exclusive bracelet which has a different link-style and solid end links.
Here is a picture from the Calibre11 Catalogues section 1999 brochure:

Calibre11 D.C.'s picture is from the later version.
The bezel numers look indeed not sharp, but as I see it in picture 1 there are even edges missing on the 40 and 50 mark, it's misformed, which can either be from excessive wear (most likely, as it has been made from real 18K rosegold which is soft) or overpolishing.
By the way I am thinking more and more this is the ladies model (fully polished case, shape of caseback-plate).
But OP, please add some better pictures, that would really help.

It might be the poor quality pictures, but if you look at the logo on the dial, where the T meets the A in TAG, it looks distorted.

Caseback is weird without the modelnumber and the serial number, also, if you have a version from outside the EU it says on top: "Stainless Steel and 18k Gold", but nothing on this one. Either it has all been polished out (not likely) or replaced. There might have been a personal inscription on it of a name or text, and replaced by the next owner. I have seen totally blank casebacks before on several watches, most of them 6000 models, and always wondered why, but this could be an explanation.
