Question about straps.

Maybe an odd one, but i wondered if anyone knew about this particular requirement.

I work on computers all day (web-dev), and my wrist rests on the desk all the time. But i like wearing heavy (ish) dive watches, with metal bracelets (i dislike it when leather or fabric straps get wet when i wash my hands), so the metal bracelet clasps tend to dig into my wrist. The same thing happens with regular buckles.

So, the question is, what strap would you recommend that is metal, but has a smooth, unridged inner surface that won't dig into the flesh on the inner wrist while i work on the keyboard.

Oh, i also dislike the metal spring bracelets because I'm... hirsuite. 馃榿

Rather than change your bracelet or strap, might I offer a different solution?

My suggestion would be to change your desk environment so you can work comfortably without having your clasp dig into your wrist.

I sit with the keyboard closer to my lap, with my palms resting on a pad. My wrists are suspended, so no pressure to that area. The added bonus is that I don't scuff up my bracelet/clasp either.

Take a look at Link watches. They have some of the most comfortable metal bracelets I've worn.

I've never had much luck with the keyboard-wrist-support-pads, but I'll give it another go. Maybe try a rolled up t-shirt to start with.

Wasn't looking to buy more watches! 馃榿 (yes - I know, what am I doing on this forum??)

What do the clasps in the bracelets look like? (IIRC those bracelets won't fit standard pin-lugs?)

I find using an adjustable height keyboard tray is what works best for me.

I agree about the strap being annoying when typing, I usually take my watch off when typing for long periods:

Actually, the bracelets on both of the watches pictured should fit normal lugs. The first watch pictured has a BA0959 bracelet (19mm lugs) and the second watch has a BA0951 bracelet (I believe 20mm lugs, but I'll double-check tonight). The only fitment issue might be the ends that fit against the case seem to be on the short-ish side, so there might be a small gap on a case with long lugs.

I was able to buy links for both bracelets from my local AD just a few months ago, so there's a good chance the whole bracelet would also be available without buying a watch.

Here are links to a couple of pics of the clasp from a watch on C24:
