·Inspired by Esquire's ranking of the F1 watches, I thought it would be fun to do our own forum poll. I'll use the same Formula1 scoring system to pick the podium winners and ranking results when complete. Would you guys like to play?
The originals weren't for everyone and are polarizing in their own right. So it seems natural for this to be the case for the reissue. Putting the KITH branding, expensive pricing, & flipping aside, how do you rank them?
I'll start by giving my ranking, which is based purely on which ones I would want to buy.
1. Hawaii
I was torn between either Tokyo or Hawaii. Ultimately Hawaii got the nod, because it's a bit more differentiated compared to the original Ukyo Katayama, while the Tokyo is a near clone of the original. Plus, the original Formula1 was all about loud bold colors and this one is as loud as it gets.
2. Tokyo
The original is the Team McLaren watch, 'nuff said.
3. New York
I like the overall stealth look combined with the subtle color palette on the bezel numbers and dial ring.
4. Toronto
Black and yellow looks cool, again I like bold colors on the F1
5. LA
6. TAG Exclusive Green
7. TAG Exclusive Blue
8. Paris
9. Miami
This one might be nice for my wife but isn't my cup of tea at all.
10. Homage to Ronnie Fieg's childhood first watch
My last choice. Because if I bought one, I'd feel like I'm wearing Ronnie Fieg's first watch, not mine. (My first TAG Heuer was the yellow and gray F1, which wasn't recreated in this series.)
