These price increases are getting pretty crazy now, and I’m struggling to see how brands can justify it.

The fact the C11 Monaco is now well above £6k is pretty nuts - the value proposition is almost impossible to justify. I’d be interested to know what kinds of discounts can be negotiated with an AD on these.

The only saving grace are pre owned prices, which by my anecdotal evidence are remaining flat, if not softening further. A well established dealer not far from me was recently selling a lightly used Carrera elegant - 2021 model with grey dial - for circa £2700. The £5k RRP is daft. The market always knows how much a piece is really worth…

Agree. Asking prices for used pieces on eBay are typically high of course, but when one goes for auction you get to see how much the market is really paying. I nearly bid on a lightly used red lollipop F1 on eBay today (CAZ101AN). £1550 is the RRP and it had an additional OEM steel bracelet in addition to the rubber strap. Most fixed price sellers are asking in excess of £1000, e.g. £1200. £820 it went for, and it's a 2022 model. That's over 50% depreciation in a few months once you factor in the bracelet cost.

As long as they hold prices reasonably steady till after the release the new panda. I might be done with buying watches after that 😀 Then again...
I'm expecting the rumored panda glassbox Carrera to be priced quite a bit higher than the 160th models. I won't be surprised if it's north of $7K, like the heritage Dato. If I'm being honest with myself, I'm questioning whether I really want to spend that much on another glassbox Carrera. I'd be just as happy buying the Aquaracer Night Diver for half the price. But even that watch is more expensive than I think it should be.

Yes, I think it will be a bit more. How much more remains to be seen. I'm hoping common sense will prevail, and it won't be so limited that anybody misses out. I can't not buy one really, but I definitely hope it won't bankrupt me.

It's really gone nuts since eBay jacked the seller fees a year or two ago. Everybody's raising prices...

My guess is $7250 give or take 100.

I really like the Timex Q Chronograph, especially the panda dial. Pretty cool and for less money than a moonSwatch.
Interesting video on both the Timex Q Chrono and W&W x Timex. I'm still tempted by both of these watches, great vintage style for just $200 bucks.

The Timex panda is a cool little watch, I bought one and love it if I’m honest

Bought the Timex blue W&W for my wife. Sitting under the tree. Also bought a ‘40s Rolex bubbleback OP, will need to find another occasion for that one 🙄

Hearing a 7% increase across the board for Omega due the end of January (Speedy Sapphire to be above £7k), Tudor 10% increase from Jan 1st.

When did TAG increase?
I’m tempted by a brand new BB58 on bracelet, two months old, asking 3000 euro. Retail is 3580 now, will be 3950 approx in January then. Maybe not a bad deal.

So this Rolex thing is not what I thought. I thought Rolex would buy the watches, service them and sell them to ADs. It seems that actually it is the ADs who will buy the watches, send them back to Rolex for service and then sell them themselves. So Rolex's only involvement is the servicing... ADs will be able to charge whatever they like.
I expected Rolex certified watchmakers at ADs might also certify watches under this scheme. But maybe Rolex wants to keep everything tightly controlled, at least in the beginning. The extra workload could turn out to be immensive. I was originally charmed by the concept, clever way of Rolex to profit from the grey market. Also a good way to avoid buying fake or stolen watches. However I’m pretty sure prices will be very high and ultimately these could up Rolex prices even more. Rolex watches with service papers already trade higher. What really turned me off though was the news that Rolex will keep the boxes and paperwork, if any available, from the watches they certify. They will issue new documents. For any vintage watch enthusiast that’s a nauseating idea.

Is that confirmed? I keep watching you tube vids where they pose the question but none seem to know. Seems a crappy idea if true..

There was a a video about this, I think I posted it here... talking about how they are sort of scrubbing the watch and how because they changed the serial numbers a few years ago you can no longer tell what year the watch was made.

I remember watching that video, so you definitely posted it here.

Bonkers situation. Glad I am not, and will never, be in the market for a Rolex!

Nice one, I’ve just got the Uranus. Although paid an extra £40 for the privilege

I was really tempted to get the moonSwatch when it was first announced. So much so that i put my name among the list to be informed once it arrived.

But many have changed since then. The Seiko 5 bug kinda got me so now i am just sticking with Seiko.

Still i think it's a fun watch to have. Just not anymore for me.

Love the Mars, will pick that up when I get a chance. Perfect sidekick for my Tintin rocket.
