Actually, I guess, it's possibly because he doesn't need to know anything about them. If you have so much money, you can just buy what you like.

I think it's because he collects watches in much higher price brackets normally. When he does videos with Teddy, he's being shown a world he's not familiar with. But you're right, he appears not to know much, if anything, about the history of even the more famous Swiss brands like Tudor.

Yeah that did cross my mind, that he collects more expensive stuff.

He's more of a 'collector' they way I see it, similar with people who collect art, purely financial is the reasoning behind his purchases.

Umm, yes. I don't see him buying Zenith or anything that isn't an 'investment'

Well yeah, but it seems like a very shallow level of 'interest'. He seems like one of those guys that would be like 'look at this watch, you can't get this anywhere', and that's probably what makes it cool to him. I guess in a way having too much cash is a bit of a bummer, cos there's no need to agonize over purchases or chase the difficult to get watch, hoping it will turn up... you just buy it and if you don't like it throw it in a drawer.

He seems to appreciate a beautiful dial more than anything, and also good finishing. Just that he appears never to have heard of a lot of the watches that Teddy shows him. 😀

I'm surprised by the patina for such a new watch (your Bronze 58). Must be the summer heat & humidity. But I really like the look, gives it great character. 👍

I’ll take a photo in proper daylight soon; there is still a nice shine to it that the night photos under yellow light aren’t picking up. where the yema is much more Matt and almost green in some areas. I have worn it on some long walks in the heat and sweated a little; and travelling on the tube etc. so lots of humidity. But that dazzling bling has definitely subsided!

Just to add that I’m kinda liking the deeper colour that it’s taking on at the moment. I’ll try and get a decent photo of it under the right light conditions

And to further add that it’s running somewhere between -1ish second per day accuracy. Similar to my Milgauss. Good stuff….

On a different note I can’t remember if I’ve asked this but does anyone on here own a grand seiko spring drive?

My BB58 is also quite accurate, less than +1 secs/day.

Two pics (still not in natural light, sorry) that show how different this watch looks at different angles. Stood in exactly the same place.

When people are talking up Cartier as being definitive understated luxury, all I can think is... 😒

All this You Tube talk of the Rolex bubble bursting because Rolex are now only worth double their retail instead of triple.... yeah, right.

Yeah a hulk is now only 22k iso 28k...
No real signs yet of prices falling apart from the obviously hyped pieces. Good vintage pieces at a fair price still gone in minutes, as happened to me yesterday when I tried to snatch a 90s 16710 gmt.
Not a fire sale just yet.
