Official TAG Heuer 6000 information and question thread

This is the official thread for all questions and discussions about the TAG Heuer 6000 series.

I'm hoping this can become a good source of information, thereby encouraging users to post in this read rather start a separate thread.

No WRUW shots, please, as we have a thread for those.

The starting point, as ever, is @Calibre11's superb ultimate guide here: https://www.calibre11.com/tag-heuer-6000-series-overview/.

Perhaps this thread can become a sticky?

And my first question, to kick things off:

Did the 6000 on a strap ever have a pin buckle? All the photographs and graphics in the ultimate guide show a deployant clasp.

I'm looking at a potential purchase of a 6000 Chronometer and the strap looks right but it has a pin buckle on it.

If you look in the back of the 1995 catalogue, it shows the straps for the 6000 series, and it offers either folding clasps or pin buckles. So yes.

Is it solid gold? If so they did both for that as well... 😉

No, I couldn't pull that off and I don't like them.

I have a question about the available sizes of the 6000.

In the ultimate collector's guide on Calibre 11 there are 3 sizes mentioned:

But when I am searching the net, sizes are different:
Gents: 39 mm
Unisex: 36 mm

Altough I also found 6000 chronographs with diameter information of 42mm.

Is it possible, that the 3 hand watches were maximum 39mm in diameter?

I didn't find information about size in the catalogues.

Does anybody have an idea?

A very good question. I am currently writing the 'History' post for the 6000 Series and the quoted sizes are all over the place. I have a three hander and a chrono, let me go measure them for you...

Okay, so the WH1115 (blue dial quartz three hander) is 38mm and the CH1110 (silver dial quartz chronograph) is 40mm. What is strange though is that they share the exact same bracelet. Usually that's a good way to work out sizes from one piece to another, if they use the same bracelet but not here. The quartz chrono is also thicker than the three hander. What I don't know is the diameter of the automatic, but I suspect it is 40mm the same as the quartz. I also believe there is a ladies (28mm - WH1312) and a mid size (35mm - WH1212).

I wonder if there is perhaps five sizes in total, 40, 38, 36, 35 and 28? Because it seems like the chronometer 3 handers are 36mm.

Seems nuts to make 5 different case sizes, but it seems like that is the case.

Just picked up my first 6000 off local classifieds. I have always been a Senna fan and have worn a S/EL Chronograph on the Leather strap for almost 20 years now. I've always loved the 6000 series, as it had a connection so Senna as he wore one in the last few years of his life in 1993/1994. I've had his real 6000 in my hands once at Collector Studio in Toronto, Canada. I really wish I took a photo of my S/EL Chrono next to his real 6000.

Anyways, I've purchased a WH1212 and am currently awaiting some straps for it! An aftermarket rubber and a black Croc strap with a Heuer tang buckle. Happy to have joined this forum, as I have been a member of Rolex Forums, WUSForums, Canadian Watch Collectors for many years.

Thank you very much for your warm welcome! I have been a TAG Heuer fan for decades, and find not everywhere appreciates/welcomes them.

I've owned F1's, SELs, 2000s, 4000s and now finally a 6000! I currently only have my 1991 SEL Chrono and the 6000 for TAG Heuer watches.

Welcome! They are certainly appreciated here!!! 👍
Many of us are long time fans of the brand. I bought my first one in the late '80s and have never looked back. 😀
