I Iñaki
I have the CM45 and the Apple Watch 4 Lte and only use this to run because with it I don´t need the phone with me.
The rest of the day use the CM because , like Albert, ( I´m from Spain too) I don´t want a watch with screen black and the first is more elegant.
There are also other things that Wear OS does better. For an example I can see on my Wear OS watches pictures from WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger. Last time I checked, Apple Watch could not open attachments. I don't know if this changed with Watch OS 5. I also enjoy gestures that allow me to go through my feed by flicking my wrist instead of having to engage my other hand. This is for most of the time even better than a digital crown.
I personally like the fitness capabilities of this watch. Its a simple, goal based algorithm that focuses on activity. Plus, I can sync my workouts with my healthcare provider to earn discounts on my health insurance premiums. This is a big deal here in the US where the cost of healthcare is out of control compared with the rest of the world. My provider won't work with apple watches because of the premium Apple demands to allow them access.
Then probably you'd enjoy a heart rate monitor too. For me the killer features of a possible next TAG Heuer Connected would be a digital crown and an enhanced standby mode, where more detail and colour would be visible even with the screen in low power mode.

About the screen in low power mode, I think current CM is OK when used with WatchMaker app faces and proper settings. I have mine adjusted to “screen always on”, 10s in bright mode before going to dim, and max OPR at 40% when dimmed: detail and colour are well visible when the screen is in low power mode, and the battery lasts enough for me with these settings (after 11 hours it’s still around 40-30%, depending on the watch face)

I took all these pictures with the screen in low power mode (second hand shows battery level when dimmed):

Looks amazing. I haven't tried Watchmaker for years, because before it was draining the battery of my old LG. But in any case I'd like to see the official TAG Heuer build support enhanced standby mode.

Yes, the battery consumption depends on which WatchMaker face are you using. Most of the WM faces I wear are consuming around 60-70% of the battery after 11h (settings: screen always ON, 10s bright mode before going to dimmed mode, max OPR dimmed 40%), one face is consuming only 43% 😀, few faces are consuming 75%... and two of them 90%! 😲 (I uninstalled these high consumption faces from my watch).

I don’t like the current official TH faces either, because they look just b&w and “skeleton” in dimmed mode. Maybe they are consuming less battery, but since I have WatchMaker installed, I never used again the original TH faces that came with the watch. At least they should offer the option to set them “always full colour and detailed face” over the “skeleton” face.

I'd be very surprised if there wasn't a new Connected...feels like a long-term project

😁
The gold (and also the diamonds) lugs are too expensive for me!! I can’t increase my Modular collection in that direction! 😁

I hope. But I believe it all depends primarily on sales.
Of course the best way to confirm the validity of the project would be to release a next generation of Connected Modular and allow the users to upgrade to the new module only, without having to buy the entire watch. But we'll see.

You can enforce that by using the App 'stay lit wear', at least with Android phones.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.phonephreak.extendedlight
In my opinion this should even be a Basic functions of Wear OS.

Yes, thanks! I already have this app installed (also works for iPhone users) and it’s very useful for the official faces. I’m using this app for all faces (settings at 10s bright before going to dimmed mode).

I agree that this option -to adjust the time in bright mode- should be a basic Wear OS option. Anyway the main problem of the official TH faces is their dimmed mode: just b&w and skeleton... it also should be an option to keep them full colour and full detail. For this reason I’m only using WatchMaker faces now, because I can set these WM faces to stay always detailed.

I am not sure, if I am getting it right, but why don't you choose the option 'indefinitely' in the stay lit App? This would prevent the skeleton ambient mode to appear. Or would it be to battery consuming?

I tried this app but it has two huge disadvantages; first, predictably, the battery life reduces to less than half. Second (and to me even more importantly) the app doesn't force a detailed standby mode (like in the Samsung Galaxy and Gear watches) but it just keeps the display always on. This means that the display reacts haphazardly to every single touch or gesture. This is not how a good low power mode should work. It should display more detail in a locked mode, which also keeps the screen inactive to any accidental touches until you choose to wake it up.

I've happily discovered that Google Fit now has an option for pairing with a Bluetooth heart rate monitor-- picked up a polar H7 on Amazon, and it easily paired with my 45-- I now get a nice graph of heart rate during my workout-- very slick and reliable.

I'm guessing more accurate than Apple's solution, no matter how much marketing is applied!

Also hoping for a new Connected this year, would think more likely around March, exactly 2 years after the current 45.

I also sprung for a Calibre 16 analog module this fall-- it is indeed very nice and will outlive my 45 and make use of the rubber and titanium straps I have collected over the past few years.

JCB, with intuition, got it right -- great reliable product.

Thanks for the info, I have been waiting for almost 2 years for this. The strap is much more accurate, I will try it out with my Wahoo strap and see if it works too.

I think this is the first official info about a new -third generation- TAG Heuer Connected model coming, in 2020... I hope it will be compatible with the current Modular system!! 🙄
