Agreed.

I feel the black & red color scheme is too conservative, and we've seen this color combo on TAGs many times before. Simply making the dial white, keeping the checkered flag motif, would've livened things up for me. A red NATO strap option with Mario Kart characters in black silhouette would've been fun too.

 

You could be right, I mean no one expected the original Alec Monopoly watches to be trading at 3-4 times the original list. Makes me angry every time I think about looking at them on the website for £1000.

 

Likes: date wheel (obv), dial - it's mainly a dark grey but then the light catches it like in this pic. It's quite nice actually

Dislikes: Mario should definitely have been on the running seconds hand zooming around;

show, don't tell - don't write "MARIO KART" on the bezel that's dumb. Add other fun things instead.

Solid caseback is a letdown at this price point.

Verdict from me is that it's nice, but too much money and not quite enough Mario bits to feel all that special.

In a year of tacky releases, this might just be the tackiest of all. That little Mario on the subdial looks so out of place...

The little Mario is well done. But overall the watch is… nice but maybe not $4300-for-a-7750 nice

 

Even if it were quartz, priced at $1800, there's not enough cool or fun elements to justify the price. At $4300, it's a hard pass, for what basically amounts to a novelty watch.

 

New design lows have been reached by a once favourite brand. Sad days. New highs have been reached with their, now laughable, pricing. Couldn't give a XXXX days since TAG Heuer is pretty much dead to me now.

 

Yeah, I agree. I wish it would be more colorful. Black and red is not Super Mario to me. Feels like Bowser's Castle

Is the date wheel just mario characters, not dates? If so, I love how ridiculous that is!

 

I think every fifth day is when a character appears on the date wheel.

^ yeah. It's still fun though, it's like hitting one of the powerup boxes in the game. One of the better touches on the watch though I kinda think just sticking with the symbols would've been better. Take a look at this video about 1:15 in

 

Awesome! I'm totally over date wheels, but a Mario wheel...take my money!

 

It's kind of hard to hate on Mario, especially for anyone who's played these games. I actually like that TAG made them, even though they're not for me.

 

In all seriousness, does anyone want to write the 'First Impressions' post for this for me? Cos I have zero interest in Mario so I feel like I'm not getting it.
