New purchases

Hi everyone
I enclose pictures of my two recent purchases , Autavia and Pasadena . I was led to believe that the Autavia is a 'derek bell' Version . Any thoughts or comments on the originality much appreciated.

Hi, the Autavia is not a Derek Bell; it may or may not be a Viceroy. You'll want to take the bracelet off the top lug and see what the reference number is - it will be either 1163 or 1163 with a V underneath it. V signifies that it's a Viceroy.

Derek Bell was known to wear an earlier version of this watch, with the same color dial - but there were style differences between those watches and this one.

Can you give me a range of how much you paid for it? There is a large value difference between a true Derek Bell and a Viceroy model

With the box, I think you paid a high price but were not taken advantage of.

Congratulations on the two!! They look lovely.

I disagree somewhat with abrod520 above regarding value, as I don't think it's a bad deal including box and signed bracelet....and think maybe slightly lower than market for the model.

As mentioned it does appear to be a Viceroy, but those themselves are quite cool due to the story behind them.

Thank you for your comments. I collect Heuer because I enjoy them and wear them. I used to set myself a budget in past years of maximum 1200.- CHF regarding purchases. Things have obviously changed and prices are somewhat different. With the prices now I need to be sure that I'm not buying a dud or fake. Advice and comments much appreciated. I'll post again once I have the strap off and have checked the serial number.

Hi Dominic-they're both great purchases and I think prices will only go one way. Regarding the Autavia-we've established it isn't a so-called 'Derek Bell' but yes, whether it's a 1163V 'Viceroy' or 1163 'pre-Viceroy' would have a bearing on the value. For my part I think the case may have been refinished, but I could be wrong. The bracelet is not original and likely from a 2000 model diver. 4600chf seems very strong to me-especially if it is a 1163v and the case is refinished. However, it's the box that could pull that back in line as they are, and will continue to be, sough after. It looks in great condition otherwise too (maybe needing a service?)-and neither a dud nor a fake imo! So if you're comfortable with it all, it's a great piece to own.

Hi Everbody.
After removing the band and careful examination, difficult to see, I did find the numbering 1163 with a V underneath . This confirms then that I have a Viceroy ?
It did come with the original Heuer Box and the works have been checked and overhauled .
I investigated the Pasadena as well ,and if not mistaken,it’s a second series model.
Thanks for the input . I hope it’s ok to post possible future purchases before I purchase to get the experts opinions ?

Yep the V indicates it is a Viceroy, the cool part of which is you know exactly how it started out in life and how the first owner came to own it.

Always advisable to post on here or other forums before outplaying your hard earned money, unless you're confident in what you're looking at. I got one have been bitten by jumping in and thinking big I knew what I was looking at.
