I have a blog with a 'photo' of every TAG Heuer watch I can find, Snowy doesn't bother with a blog...
I'm new to this forum, hello everyone! This was my first Tag Heuer purchase ever. I don't usually like red watches, but I saw this at a dealer and fell in love. Apparently, according to the dealer this was the last one available in Thailand, where I live now. The white central dial has something of a Daytona panda-esque vibe to it that subtly downplays its striking dark red color (in a good way). I haven't seen any other Monaco that has this kind of white sunburst dial in the middle, it seems like this particular edition is unique in that regard. I'll need to get a proper camera to capture it, but here are a few pictures I just took from my phone today.
Good work @ilovethemonaco and welcome to the Calibre 11 forum. IMO, you won't find a bigger bunch of TAG Heuer/Heuer nuts anywhere else.
I'd be surprised to see this sell at that price at this point, but there are a lot of crazy people out there to prove me wrong ....
Last one I saw go was at Topper Jewelers here in the US, took some time at about 7k US but I see it's moved now.
I spoke to Rob about this one. Could have been mine for around 6k. But it just wasn't tempting enough unfortunately
Boys, need an opinion. Thinking of getting a custom exotic leather strap for the GPMH Monaco. I am intrigued by this strap as this is elephant skin. I made a crude render of the strap with the watch - just wanted to get some views on how this looks. The final strap will be Monaco spec (to fit the deployant clasp). Apologies for the very rough copy/paste job.
Are you serious? Are they actually making straps out of killed elephants? I know Rob and others are fans of killing sharks for making strap but elephant I've never heard of before. Can you please link the store that offers these?
Personally speaking of course, I don't think that strap goes very well with that Monaco. It is a reddy brown and it clashes with the red in the dial and doesn't contrast very well. I think a black strap would work best.
Yes. Salamanders are evil. They eat other salamanders when resources are scarce OR TIME IS LIMITED. Like, what the actual hell does that mean???? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Salamander
Apparently African elephant skin is CITES certified. I was looking at alternate exotic straps and came across this. Now looking into exotic exotics - elephant, hippo, kudu, kangaroo, camel. BTW, sharks are extremely misunderstood, courtesy Jaws. Nothing "evil" about them.
