Great photos and article. You chose the right one in my opinion but I share your reservation about the beige lume. It doesn't ruin the watch, and normally I don't mind it, but the rest of the watch looks so clean. You don't really notice aged lume on the vintage Carreras as much as you do on some other vintage watches anyway, so they didn't really need to draw attention to it.

Enjoyed reading this @Calibre11 Thanks DC 👍

The Carrera Silver 160 still looks very “fresh” even if it is vintage-inspired. Probably the “fake aged lumes” were needed to make it fit as “retro” but everything can be viewed as perfect, timeless. It just shows that an iconic design, no matter what the timeline, will transcend the boundaries of space/time! People will still appreciate even after another 60 years has passed 😉

I’d like to think this would be the heirloom Carrera that I’ve been waiting for 😀

Honestly, I love the aged lume on such a clean dial.

Agree! I don’t mind if it is “fake aged lumes” this adds to the appeal! So to me it scores a perfect 10 (+1) ::psy::

“That we have two heritage 39mm Carreras to choose from is hopefully a sign that the new TAG Heuer management team will continue to offer modern Carreras that pay homage to the glorious past- 1960s looks with 2020 reliability and movements. That sounds like a perfect combination to us.”

yes yes yes yes yes so much yes

Am I the only one who thinks the rotor looks a bit.... out of place.

I think the steering wheel idea is clever.

No I agree, it does not suit the watch at all, the only thing I wish they would have changed

yep! 😜
Very nice.

It's a tough choice between the two. If I had a few watches, maybe I'd go for the Montreal, as I reckon this one would feel more special when you wear it. But if it was a watch to be worn every day, I think the Silver edition will be a fantastic choice day in, day out.

I'd like to think that TAG Heuer will keep going with the 39mm Carrera. From what I can see, neither watch has sold out at the moment, but given that in total there are almost 3,000 pieces, I'm not that surprised.

I'll admit to getting fixated on small things: 1. Drop the fake lume and 2. Stop this "1 of 1000" LE branding and go back to individually numbering watches...PLEASE 😁

I can't decide, so my current stance is to get neither. LOL 😜

The Silver is the safe choice, elegant and timeless. But for me, a little boring. The Montreal is the party animal and screams look at me. But I'd rather have the fake lume on this one instead of the yellow. Its just a little too over the top color wise for my taste. I guess what I really want is something in between, like a classic panda dial.

I like the color of the lume, too. It's only so small accents and it gives the watch a touch of heartiness in an otherwise icecool design.
By the way, when it's loaded enough with light-energy it looks kind of white until falling back to the beige color.

Exactly the reason I plumped for the Telemeter in the end 😀

TAG Heuer: Here's a new watch!

C11 Forum: We'd rather have a Panda dial.

shame the Panda is 42mm.... why didn’t they make it 36mm like a proper watch?
