Well at least the bezel is aluminum and not ceramic....

How is that a good thing? I'll almost certainly not be buying one because of the aluminium bezel

I was being facetious. Like you, ceramic all the way. That's why for me, the aluminum bezel on the Autavia is a bit of a deal breaker for me.

I'm certain there's is a story behind the blue / red coloring of GMT bezels, not only esthetics.
Most watchmakers have them; Rolex, Tag Heuer, Seiko, to name a few.

The Submariner, probably because its family name is Rolex, has been the reference.

Sorry! I just don't see how I can avoid destroying an ally bezel on a tool watch.

The bezel is aluminium

Ah - thanks! It does look very "vibrant". Do you know if this watch is 43 or 41 mm? It looks more like 43 mm, but I can't be sure. And thanks also for bringing us up to date with the latest TAG Heuer watches from Basel 2017! Your site is second to none.

And a VERY big thank you for all your excellent work on covering Baselworld Calibre 11. I can't speak for everyone here but for me, your devotion to bring the absolute best out of the brand is next to none. Again, thank you!

Thanks BPD- much appreciated 👍

It does seem busier than it used to, I noticed that myself.

Shhh. Don't draw attention to yourself Otto. Just let the dust settle and then we'll launch phase two of our plan!

Does anyone know why Rolex ended up using blue and red for the original PanAm watches?

Sorry if this question has been asked and answered elsewhere but all of my searches have come up negative so far... I'm curious if there is any intel on when we may see this GMT in stores here in the US. All of my searchs are coming back some european and Japanese retailers listing the watch but there doesn't appear to be anything officially on the Tag webpage or any US retailers. Thanks for any info on this- would be very interested to see this one in person.

As stated by others, this is a very helpful and interesting forum... stumbled across it a few weeks ago and decided to join in today... thanks for the great info.

No need to panic. TAG's been color-cool before too 😉

Talking about copies, this sub below is quite antique and came before the "invention" hehehe

Heuer's been doing GMT Red/ Blue for 50 years:

Did they copy it 50 years ago? Yes, probably...but there's plenty of heritage here irrespective.

I love this watch.
