Straps are starting to become more readily available here in Australia.

Haven't bothered with a Leather Look yet.
Happy with the rubber at this stage.

I need to go into my local boutique and see if the black leather/rubber with red stitch will fit my Carrera Calibre 36 Racing. If so, that plus the black, titanium deployant would be a lovely match and a fairly cost effective strap/deployant compared with the OEM strap alone.

I think you might be in luck.
Definitely a good buy for $200 with clasp.

I want to get started on the Leather look straps but at $300 each they are a bit expensive.

Let us know how the fit goes please

Do you know that it’s not leather and rubber, but just rubber imitating being leather?

Even so, the price (190 Euro/ 200 US$) is very correct since it has the included steel buckle. And the price of the black titanium buckle is also very good (110 Euro/110 US$) if we compare it with previous TH Connected generations

Yes, that's really what I meant.

The price is AU$300 and the deployant is AU$160. The OEM strap (leather) is at least AU$460 so the Connected strap and deployant represent pretty good value, IMO. The value being relative, of course!

Even though I have no interest in the Connected, I do enjoy Albert's encyclopedic knowledge of every possible facet of the range.:)

:D No, I'm only specialized in the Connected 2nd generation, the Modular 45 ;)

TH needs to get actual leather bands options. FWIW, a rep in customer service said there are no current plans for leather. If that's true, it's really shitty.

The rubber straps are actually really good quality. No one would ever know it's not leather that's how good they look. The leather straps for the 45 were silly since it was a super thin piece of leather glued to a rubber strap anyway. And sweat would seep through the threads and ruin the leather.

Obviously everybody has different tastes, but those rubber straps are not comparable to the look of the leather straps and are not my cup of tea. I'm hoping for a more traditional look to wear with suits.

Maybe at some distance someone can believe they are real leather... but you know it’s just rubber pretending be leather ::shy::

I think true leather straps should be offered for the Gen3 Connected as well, just like for the two previous generations

I don’t have this problem with sweat on any of my Modular 45 leather straps. In fact, I think this combination of rubber on the inside and leather on the outside offers more durability and resistance to the strap, compared to a leather-only strap.

So I don’t find them silly at all. And in fact they share the design with the leather straps of the Carrera 45mm Heuer 02 Tourbillon

Damn those look nice. I'm particularly jealous of the brown leather. Such a great look.

Correct, rubber imitating leather. (Faux or vegan leather)

Yeah I'm just bitter cuz I worn my brown leather on an extremely humid day where I was outside all day here in the east coast and sweat went though the stitching and permanently ruined the strap. Now I wear rubber on rainy or humid days.

Have you seen one in person? They look very detailed and good value for the money. I'm sure leather will come and probably be 400 to 500 hundred dollars. I think TAG will release new straps per season. Also I believe these straps will fit the gen 4 since they are so basic, unlike previous gens. If not I'll never buy another tag product again.

I haven't but I don't like the fake texture to them nor do I like the colors for a leather look-alike. There is no comparable product to the brown leather, black leather or gray leather straps available for the CM45.

 In such extreme conditions, surely you would also have ruined with sweat a strap made entirely of leather. The leather is certainly more delicate, and in these cases it’s better to be able to wear a completely rubber strap or a metal bracelet!

Anyway, in case of stains, these Modular 45 leather straps can be washed well with water and neutral soap, even rubbing with a toothbrush, and once dry applying a leather preservation product (I used one of car upholstery), and they are like new again :)
