Congrats @TheorPhys !!!

The white & gold Carrera is very nice too. I've tried them both on, don't think you could go wrong with either choice. But I do love panda dials! 👍

Thank you, gents for your responses, and as expected, I am uploading the first pictures. First things first, the watch looks interesting and I like it because it blends sport motifs and "more or less formal" ones, so wearing it with a suit will not be a challenge 😀 So here come the pics:

But TAG found a way to spoil the event a bit, by sending the watch in this "presentation box":

And just to put things in perspective, here are the other "inhabitants" of my TAG Heuer "garage":

Cheers!

Looks great!

Too bad about the damaged box, that's just the outer shipping box right? Wouldn't hurt contacting TAG to let them know about the box, they might send you another one.

Seeing that you already have 2 other Carreras, I think you definitely made the right choice going with the Autavia. Variety is the spice of life!

Thank you, Mspeedster. Yes, I plan to talk to them, especially, given that this is not the first f..up I see from them. Btw, I see that several people on this forum are also the "car people", so it is a double pleasure to re-join this community, as I have been a long time Bimmerhead 😀 I may return to this thread, as the new watch makes an additional strange sound, besides the rotor whirl. Have to admit, that it is less pronounced than the sound I get from my Baman GMT H02 Carrera, but beside this sound, at the end there is a slight sound, similar to what you hear when you wind up a spring. I know that this is what the rotor does 😀 , but I do not hear it on both Carreras. Should I think about replacing the watch? Thank you. Cheers!.

Update. Did some research on that ratcheting noise and it seems even Cal 16 has it and ppl say that this is quite normal: https://www.watchuseek.com/threads/tag-heuer-day-date-cv2a10-ba0796-loud-spring-noise-is-it-normal.559267/

@TheorPhys, beautiful Autavia! Congrats again.

I’m pretty sure I know the sound which you describe, and my H02 models also make that sound (as well as the Cal 16 model I’m wearing today). It is more noticeable (i.e, just a bit louder) on my H02 models.

Yes a lot of car people here, you should spend some time visiting the garage: https://tagheuerforums.com/forums/the-garage.46/

Not sure about the noise you're concerned about. The H02 is noisy, this video made by @Jim Dollares is pretty typical of the sound.

I am new to these forums as a new Tag owner of the Autavia Flyback and wanted to jump in here if I could.

This is my first luxury watch purchase and I spend months and months, as most of us do, considering brands and specs and reading every piece of literature and watching every video I could find. I was all over the map from a sapphire “sandwich” Speedy to a Planet Ocean to the Autavia Heuer 02 released a few years ago. I eventually purchased my Flyback through Hodinkee after reading their articles and talked to some acquaintances who purchased through them before as well.

Ultimately I landed on the Autavia Flyback as I could couldn’t take my eyes off of it. In hand and on wrist, the depth and color variation of the applied indices and sub dials is phenomenal. I couldn’t be happier and if you’re even considering this model but maybe a little unsure I would encourage you to try and see one in person because it’s better than the Tide+ Time YouTube video shows.

The pins are fixed, but like someone else said you could cut off if you really wanted. The alligator black strap it comes with is very nice but a little dressy for my needs. For now, I’ve purchased some nato-style leather straps from Bas and Lokes and I’ll try and post some pictures on the watch once they come in. I also reached out to Delugs, as they currently manufacture watch-specific straps for the Cartier Santos and Tissot PRX currently. I was told that they plan on releasing some straps for fixed bars that should work on these shortly as well.

I hope my humble opinions can help anyone on the fence about this model as I wouldn’t change my purchase decision at all after 2+ weeks of ownership.

First, congrats with the purchase. As a "newly minted" owner of the same model, I can understand what you mean by saying: "I could couldn’t take my eyes off of it" 😀 My sentiment exactly. I am very much interested in your experience with changing the strap, as I plan to do that as well.

Thank you, Jemagloh. That sound was probably not a good sign, as the watch was losing 7 to 9 sec per day, so I reached TH and they replaced the watch. Timing the new one, and so far (knock on wood) it shows a decent tolerance within COSC limits.

Are you hearing anything similar in the replacement?

Congrats again to you and @ArthroBro on your new Autavias!
