·To further illustrate my pet peeve, here's my 14.5mm thick Carrera glassbox next to my 12mm vintage El Primero. Now I love my Dato 45, but a manual wind slimmer version would've been much better.
You can make it thinner, yes... but the centres of the chrono sub dials are fixed. If we crudely imagine 3mm off the diameter each side aren't the subdials going to end up too close the edge?
Looks so nice with the black strap. I find myself not wearing this one much because of the polished blingy bracelet.
I love mine too and enjoy the size, pop and automotive vibe. The mid case has a way of slimming the thickness of the watch down and the bezel with the smaller font seems to slim it a bit as well. As with all watches they really must be tried on to see how it works for you. Many of you have Monacos here and that seems just too chunky on my wrist but looks great on your wrists.
Neither of the new chronograph models work for me but maybe they will come out with something else that will as the year goes by. Fingers crossed
I recently tried on a Speedmaster Mark II, which is supposed to be 15mm thick, slightly thinner than your Autavia. But boy it sure felt way thicker.
Look at how high the springbars are, and where the bracelet attaches. It’s horrible :/
Fortunately, original Mark IIs are only like &1500 or so and wear rather nicely. Go with one of those instead 😉
The heritage model is the easy winner when seeing them side by side in that video.
(aside from Monaco, Monza & Silverstone)
