I've been saying it wrong all these years! No wonder I don't own one, LOL! 🤦

Is that how it's pronounced? I always thought it was "Awtahvia", must be my American accent. 😗
Awtahvia really? Sounds very posh. Would you pass me the awtahvia and biscuits dear?

The GMT might qualify for sexy caseback awards. With a quick release bracelet as well. pics from monochrome
Looks sharp lumed. But now it's in a black case?

Nah, just a gloomy loom shot

The starburst dial on the silver Awtayvia (sounds like a Roman General) looks rather nice. 👍

Well let's keep being honest then: Nobody who wants modern interpretations cares about the Autavia name, and nobody who cares about the Autavia wants a modern interpretation.

The @Calibre11 Siffert Autavia disproves both of those statements.

The real issue with the gmt is not it's modern interpretation status or its name, merely that it is a hideous abomination that should never grace a wrist.

@Aquagraph are we able to give negative scores?

Well I wouldn't worry about that, it's already scoring on a par with the brown dial Aquaracer and that weird ladies link with the gold pattern on the dial.

That's a good point about the Siffert. I couldn't care less about the Autavia H02 to be honest, but that watch was pretty awesome.

The Siffert doesn’t qualify as a modern interpretation. That one was the classic ‘60s style case with a ‘70s style dial. The new mall watches are modern interpretations. No Autavia geek is interested and no one interested cares about the Autavia name.

How is not a modern interpretation? It's not a like for like re-issue is it, and it's 42mm

I guess it was something in between. Looked a lot like the original but with thicker bezel and case and too large. An exact manual copy of the Rindt most Heuer collectors would love. The new pilot watches qualify as modern interpretations, as in suckidy suck.

Yes, the 2017 Autavia was not so much a "modern reinterpretation" as the classic just upsized for what TAG thought were modern preferences (even though 39mm chronographs were hot in 2017 and remain ever so). And that garnered a ton of interest.

Flash forward to 2022 and most people don't even know this new one exists

With Autavias are you talking about now? Cos the three hand Autavias aren't really a modern interpretation, they are a completely new watch that's been called the Autavia (Orrtarvia). 😒

You know.... it sounds an awful lot like you guys make these rules and then you change them when they actually make something you like. It's a pity we didn't have the COCO Council back in 2017 and I could go back and quote all the nasty things you probably said about the Heuer 02 Autavia when it came out.

😁

Kinda does 😁

Granted there is an element of growing to like watches as you get used to them, for example you and the new AR, but to argue the h02 Autavia is a re edition so it's OK....

Of course these new Owtayviarse are modern interpretations. They have design elements of Autavia stopwatches, bund, etc. but are designed and positioned as completely new watches, in essence pilot’s watches (ayvia) iso racing watches (owt). Pretty straightforward stuff. It just takes a bit of pre TAG Heuer interest 😎
