So i've never owned a watch before and i really dont wanna break anything its the Formula 1 CAZ101AC.BA0843. It's a little overwhelming i can't lie. I'm seeing loads videos saying things like dont change the date between 8 - 3 because that could break the internals, don't press button B without first pressing button A or that could break the internals. It's kinds scary how many things can supposedly break the watch im kinda scared to touch anything on it. I don't know how true this information is but i heard the same things said in 4 different videos and on multiple forums, so decided to refer to the manual. There was information that seems to contradict the other peoples information.

on page 8 theres a section called "Timing with intermediate (split) times" where it states
1. start: button A (start)
2. stop 1st intermediate time: button B (split time)
> read 1st intermediate time
3. continue timing: button B (restart - fly back)
4. stop 2nd intermediate time: button B (split time)
> read 2nd intermediate time
5. continue timing: button B (restart - fly back)
etc.
6. finish: button A (stop)
> read end time
7. reset to zero: button B

I dont understand because step 1 & 2 is a direct contradicting of what everyone is saying what no to do.

im also wondering how to sync the second hand up with the minute hand since when you're setting the time the second hand isn't ticking so when you set the time the seconds will be off.
im sorry for the dumb questions i just dont wanna mess this up and break something i'd rather ask and sound stupid than be too proud and try doing it on my own then break something.

You cannot damage a quartz movement with the pushers, so don't worry. TAG manuals often include instructions for multiple movement variants - yours doesn't have the Flyback function.

If you need to set the time, pull the crown out to the second stop (all the way) and advance the time until the date ticks over (so you know you're in the AM).

Then advance the date to the correct time, and if necessary, put the crown to the first position and adjust the date.

Just don't try and change the date if the watch reads between 8pm and 3am, as this is the period when the date begins to tick over and forcing it during this time can break the mechanism.

This may sound obvious, and I'm not trying to teach you so suck eggs but if this is your absolutely first watch then you may not be aware of this....

To get your running seconds (ie, real life seconds) bang on, simply pull the crown to the 2nd position (for time adjustment) at the exact second that the second hand hits the 12 marker (well - in this case the 60 mark), so that the second hand is poised....

Then set the time a minute ahead of whatever your source is for current time, then as the source-of-truth ticks over to the time you have set on the watch, push in the crown to restart your watch. If you've timed it right, your watch will be synchonised.

Yes it's a manual process, but it's what you need to do.

Obviously this assumes the second hand (running seconds) actually stops when you're adjusting the time... I don't know the watch, but most watches have this ability these days (iirc it's called a "hacking" movement).
