Correct. E420.
Nice one, a true sleeper with V8 engine

I had a 500 E (W 124) for over 10 years and loved it. I miss it, but luckily my current C 55 AMG (W 202) makes the nostalgia more bearable ::love::

I believe it was one of his personal cars.
Exactly , and also this 190 E 2.3-16 (W 201) that Mercedes-Benz gave him for having won the inaugural race of the new Nürburgring in 1984 :)

I remember that race, it had many F1 world champions and future world champions competing (albeit for fun) in equal cars. Senna beat them all as a rookie. Allegedly pushing pole sitter Prost off early in the race to take the lead, a forebearer of things to come. lol.
Senna talks about the Mercedes 190E 2.3-16 in this 1986 interview. (BTW, he's wearing the Seiko Speedmaster A828. ;))
Have you ever considered getting a 190E 2.3-16 or the later 2.5-16 @Albert-AMG?

When I was contemplating buying my first German car in the late '80s, I considered a 190E, but ended up with a BMW 325iS instead. The cars I really wanted were the 190E 2.3-16 or the BMW M3 (e30), but those were a bit out of my reach range back then.

Nice videos, Michael! Next May 12 is the 40th Anniversary of that race

My father had for many years a 190 E 2.3-16 (W 201) from 1985, in smoke silver as the Senna’s winning car :). I had the chance to drive it quite a bit and it was very agile and fun , although I would have liked more power... maybe like the 2.5-16 Evolution II ;). My current C 55 AMG (W 202) is in fact its direct descendant and also the most powerful and sporty in its range... although with twice as many cylinders and almost twice as much power ::love::

That is too awesome!
How long did your father keep it? My father had a C280 (W202), same body style as your C55. He had always wanted a Mercedes; it was his one & only. He kept it until just a few years ago, because he doesn't drive anymore.

:) He kept it around 15 years, and then he sold it to buy a 500 SL (R 129)

I'm glad your father also had and enjoyed a W 202! :)

I have had that issue with e30 m3s for most of my driving life. The 325iS is a gem thou, I’ve had a handful of BMWs over the years, but the e30 stands out for the sharpness of steering, would happily have another today. I almost bought a 190 2.3-16 a few times over the years, had a soft spot for them because Dad had a 190 as a company car when I was a kid, probably should have bought one rather than yet another bmw!

here is an article that popped up on the 190 recently

Today is the 40th Anniversary of that inaugural race of the Nürburgring on Mercedes-Benz 190 E 2.3-16 (W 201) equal cars, won by Ayrton Senna
