Hi all,

I'm new to the forums, but I've been a die-hard Steve McQueen fan for years. I'll be getting my grail watch, a Monaco CAW211P McQueen Reissue later this summer, which I am HUGELY excited about.

I thought I would share my other big piece of Steve McQueen lore - my 2008 Mustang Bullitt. It's a special edition Mustang, based on a GT Premium with some additional goodies from Ford Racing that pays homage to the 40th anniversary of the movie, Bullitt, and the 1968 Mustang that McQueen drove in it.

I've had this car for 8 years, now, and I plan to never sell it. It's an absolute blast, and it turns heads wherever I go, while also being extremely low-key.

That's very cool that your personal car was used for this picture! How did that happen? Do you work for Ford?

Welcome sir @MonacoMike !!! ::psy::

There are alot of SMQ fans here with Steve McQueen iconically tied with Le Mans, Heuer/TAG Heuer, the Monaco and mostly Porsche cars  Great to see your Mustang Bullitt and such a beautiful car! 2021 seems to be the Year of the Green with the new Green TAG Heuer Monaco :D

Sir @Mspeedster is the most SMQ guy I know in Calibre11 and his passion-enthusiasm is super contagious  Bought myself SMQ books, 3x Monacos and 1/18 Porsche SMQ car models  I haven’t jumped to the SMQ figurine yet ;)

Thanks for sharing your story & your Bullitt! Calibre11 is the HOME of the world’s TAG Heuer collectors & enthusiasts ::rimshot::

Just recently became appreciative of McQueen and his legacy. Definitely a unique legend. An advocate and inspiration for racing fans as well.

He lived life his way.

I work for Ford and I'm one of the co-founders of a Metro-Detroit Bullitt owners club.

Every year there is a big Mustang show at Ford World Headquarters called Mustang Memories - usually the same weekend as the Woodward Dream Cruise.

This photo was from 2019, and we had quite a contingent of Bullitts. I was asked if I could help pick one from each generation to be in the photo, so I selfishly put my 08 in there.

The 68 driven by McQueen was sold for $3.7 million the next year, and it's not been seen since, so I consider myself very, very lucky to have been able to spend some time with it.

Thanks! I've wanted a Monaco like Steve Mcqueen wore for 20 years, so I'm also well versed in most things McQueen.

I'm in the process of redoing my garage and I plan to have a big case for all of my model cars and other automotive stuff. I've strongly considered one of those figurines!

Very nice, I do like the s197 bullitt. Super clean design, with so many little touches that are really well thought out.

Nice! What year is yours, @Mad Dog??
I have a 2001 [DHG #03875]...purchased it new from a local Cincinnati, OH Ford dealer in August of 2001. It remains in stock configuration to this day. I will say that the 2008/2009 Bullitt in HG is my favorite Bullitt...really like the lines...Ford really did a fantastic job with it. Here are some file pics of my 2001 Bullitt...

It’s going pretty good now, Mike...now that I figured out that the Tag Heuer forum is somehow linked to the Omega forum...I spent like two hours mashing buttons trying to figure out how to log in here. Hope all is well your way...last time we met was at Woodward a few years ago. You going to Idaho for the upcoming Bullitt Nats? I don’t think I can go...probable work conflict.

Things are good here. My little girl is 2 now and I don't make it out to many car events these days. Covid has obviously put a damper on that as well.

Hadn't planned on going to Boise. Miss seeing all of you guys but there's not much in Boise that I want to see badly enough to put a few thousand miles on my car for...

My Bullitt is slowly being modified, but in as tastefully a way as possible. I'm still a purist when it comes to how the car looks, but I've made a few enhancements the improve the way that it drives.

Think I’ve seen ‘The Tail of the Dragon’ mentioned on a US Honda forum, I assume it’s a reference to a road?

Yeah, it's a well-known road on the Tennessee / NC border or thereabouts. Very curvy and scenic, and often choked by RVs and tourists.

Yep. It's an amazing stretch of road on the Tennessee/North Carolina border that features something like 300 corners over 11 miles. It's an amazing place to drive, but a terrible place to be a passenger.

I got to drive it back in 2011 in Shelby GT-H. Would love to do it again in my Bullitt, although it may be even more fun in my Focus ST!
