It's interesting that they've given the quartz models the slatted dial though.. maybe now they have the new dial they feel they can pass it down.

So the 36mm ones have the adjustable clasp. Even worse then that the 40mm did not get it. Just makes no sense.

Too costly. The ad of the new AR is running on Eurosport every 5 min. Priorities you know.

Yeah you're probably right. Just bummed out about it, such a missed opportunity.

Strange isn't it. You would think the 40mm is a 'budget' version (no cyclops, steel bezel, no glide clasp) but it's hardly any cheaper. Makes no sense.

What does this mean?

Well the slatted dial was always reserved for the auto, the quartz was always flat.... look at the cool white one, the quartz has a flat white dial, the auto has the slats. But the new one has slats on the quartz. I guess that was always the differentiator, but now they have the fume dial as the added value...

Exactly, they are pretty much the same price. A budget version should be noticeable cheaper.

But maybe this just means that the 300m ones will increase 25% in price for 2022

Now We all know where the Mario connection started 😉 I’m a big fan of Super Mario. Played the games and super fun. But not enough for it to be in my TAG Heuer 👍. I know it will appeal to a broader demographic but somehow it is just super limited, such a shame. Nintendo & Super Mario has a legion of followers 😗

I too was a big fan of Super Mario.
I see heaps of these limited Edition pieces on Ebay for double the selling price. I don't think anyone is buying them on the second hand market.
A 2000 run was probably just an experiment.

What caught my surprise though was the price. Compared to the WBD watches in 41mm, the price of these new ones has increased 22,8%. And then I realise these dont even have the adjustable clasp design similar to the 43mm versions. Nor do they have the cool dive helmet caseback.

22.8% increase makes perfect sense, because according to this Monochrome article, the overall Swiss watch industry declined by 22% last year, so they need to raise their prices by 22% to compensate* https://monochrome-watches.com/top-50-swiss-watch-brands-2020-market-share-sales-editorial/

Oh gawd, yes... that as well. Size and looks aside, the 43mm is a no brainer.

I actually liked it when the quartz versions had the coloured TAG Heuer logo, and "professional" written on the dial. That "styling" disappeared in the AR series, but continues with the F1 series. I think I prefer the flat dial on the quartz, and not too sure about the "fume" pattern on the current auto...
