    Ah, right - cheers all.

Add that to the list of possibles then - I rather like it.

This is the link to the article: https://www.calibre11.com/tag-heuer-autavia-chronograph-orange-boy-by-hodinkee-edition-ref-cbe2117/
Here's what an original Orange Boy Autavia ref 1163 looks like.

The Hodinkee tribute looks really nice, but it lacks the proper case style and dual register layout of the original, as well as having the crown on the wrong side.

It was an inspiration, not a re-edition. I place the Hodinkee OB just behind the Siffert in the line-up. I’ve had an original OB. Nice watch but I didn’t love it. I liked the Viceroy a lot more and that costs less than half

    Cheers for the link.

Call me odd, but I don't like the case on the original - I prefer the case-style on the modern 'homage'. :D

I'm not sure what all the case-styles are called, but I don't like the 'bulging' effect that the older case seems to have.

That’s probably because you don’t have any wearing experience with cushion cases yet. They combine vintage character and amazing comfort (most of the time)…

I'd wager most of the people here who think the Grand Carrera is abhorrent probably haven't 'experienced' it either.... just sayin.

Maybe. And everyone's obviously entitled to their own opinion ;)

But I thought that the reference to a „bulging effect“ was maybe related to how cushion cases wear (?)

Have a feeling these were made to be given to airline employees or maybe in conjunction with some kind of promotion. It would be interesting to know the backstory of some of these rather niche LEs.

Super nice! with Captain America’s shield ::love::

PS: I think it was commissioned for PAL employees (pilots, stockholders, senior officers etc) I can’t remember it was sold to the public ;)

There are a lot of limited/special editions aimed at tourist destinations/airlines, in surprising numbers.... but I guess these places have a high turnover/footfall so it's quite easy to sell a lot of pieces. I looked up that Eddie Aikau guy, he was quite famous in Hawaii, still 1200 pieces seems quite a lot.

After further reading, the 2500 LE TAG Heuer Aquaracer was commissioned by PAL in 2009 to recognize and give tribute to their loyal employess who have reached atleast 25 years in the airline company  Such a great loyalty award ;)

Just a trivia, Philippine Airlines is “Asia’s First Airline” founded in 1941 just before WW2 :)

I'm currently researching the Aquaracer and it's unbelievable just how many limited editions there are and how many pieces of each were made... for example, we just had the new Aquaracer Ibiza made in 20 pieces, compare that to older (quartz) Aquaracers -
    Fiji Islands (800)
    Maui (700)
    Maldives (1000)
    Bora Bora (900)
    South Pacific (300)
    Ile des Pins (800)
    Hayman Islands (400)
    Ogasawara Islands (300)
    English Rugby (1000)
    Hawaii (300)
    WWF Ishigakijima Islands (500)

My last employer would barely give me the time of day let alone a watch, had to laugh at a job ad they have, ‘warm and friendly family firm’ My arse.::censored::
