Very valid points David.

This is an XX prototype as you say, and I know what you mean about the passing around and knocks. Luckily in this case I don't think it's been released out before now except for display, but still as you say possibly not tested fully by QC....as well as being outside of the normal production process which never helps quality either.

I guess if this is the worst possible example 4 seconds is rather good I suppose, although I've got no idea what is really good and one would expect.

Agree- it's very good.

All I meant was that the same watch is given out to journalists to review. They pass it to a photographer, and given how many hands it passes through it's not unusual for something to go wrong. I've only had one problem with a TH proto- I picked up a Grand Carrera Calibre 17 and the push fell off! Clearly, whoever had it before me broke it and sort of placed it back together for the next guy to find!

Great post. I am very interested in this piece. How heavy is the watch and is the bracelet the same as the normal autavia?

Everything about it is the same as the standard Autavia except for the dial/hands colour/design, the bezel insert and the non-display caseback.

Weight wise is the same as the Autavia and didn't feel overly heavy to me, but instead perfect weight and feel. The bracelet is the same as the standard one and feels very solid and would easily be my choice.

Here's the last picture I took of it before putting it back in Tag's safe 😉

So would you buy it for the price it's been offered at here in the uk £4500/decent value? Does it give you that wow factor? just out of interest what is the size of your wrist? Thanks for the pic.

Great shot!

As I mentioned in another thread, the 3 o'clock sub-dial will be changed to 1 minute increments rather than 2.5 minutes for the final production watch

I think at its price point little comes close to be honest, especially when you consider the technicalities of the vertical clutch movement (if you're into that sort of thing).

Add to this it being limited to 1932 pieces makes it rather special indeed! Let us also not forget it is celebrating Jack's 85th Birthday which although we hope would not be his last is a factor in the long term picture. The sunburst effect on the dial is stunning and together with it being silver it picks up the ambient light and changes colour quite often appearing white in bright light.

If you have tried the standard Autavia on and are happy with it dimensionally then it's a no brainer.

My wrists are about 6.25" so rather small but the Autavia wears well in my opinion even on my girly wrists.

Not keen on the bracelet, but the watch itself looks much nicer than the standard to me. Those smaller numbers on the bezel make a HUGE difference to the overall look.

Agree. A lot of people have commented on the size of the bezel, but I think it's the size of the numbers on the bezel that really make the difference.

Agree completely. The size of the numbers and then being stacked in the MH configuration makes a massive difference. Strange but true.
