Tag should pay us 300 pounds to swap in my opinion, what are your views on this. Deal or No Deal ?

😁 😁 😁 😁 😁

Don't they look at what price Gen2's, and even Gen1's, are selling for on the second-hand market? The lugs alone are already selling for over £ 300! And there is still the strap, buckle, and the head-unit! £ 300 for the whole watch is a bad joke!

Exactly. In any case, TAG Heuer should pay £ 300 to deliver a steel watch, made in China, and not Modular, in exchange for a Swiss Made watch, titanium, and Modular 😉

Of course I would not change it or get that £ 300 for my Gen2 plus a Gen3 for free... imagine if I had to pay more than £ 1200, which is what they offer 😁

I’m glad I bought my Gen 2 collection with mechanical heads when I did, there are not many good examples to choose from these days on eBay or Chrono24

Yes, me too! 👍 Good examples are really expensive anyway… that's why the trade-in offer is even more absurd! 😁

Ummm, I was dwelling over this offer. Are you sure we cannot just trade-in the head and then keep the lugs and strap etc, as I also have the Calibre 16 mechanical head which I interchange with the smart watch. If u read the trade-in offer it does not say it must be complete? What do you all think ? 🤪

I would just send the Head..that is the only part not functioning or needs to be replaced. The rest of the watch is still ok. They can't expect you to send all interchangeable parts back also.
As Albert says, they are worth quite a bit.

To me that reads that it's just the head, but they can dispose of your straps if you want them to

They are very gentle 😁
Second hand Modular 45 rubber straps are being sold for around £60-80, and second hand calfskin straps are being sold for around £150… second hand chargers around £60-80, and second hand buckles around £100-120
Why would someone throw them away? 🤪

If the £300 offer were to deliver just a damaged head-unit (burn-in screen, dead battery…), being able to keep lugs, strap, and buckle (which can be used with the mechanical modules) and charger, it would already be a more reasonable proposal, but in the information on the website it is not clear if only the head-unit can be delivered, nor whether it should properly work or not.

Why should the condition matter if it's going to be recycled?
Yes, it doesn’t make sense if they just plan to destroy the watch… it only would make sense if they plan to refurbish it

To sell at a profit.... would they really bother though?

In case they accept that only the Gen2 head-unit is delivered, and we receive £300 for it, and then have to pay about £1200 for a Gen3 (steel)... two options:

1- In case the (Swiss Made and Modular) Gen2 head-unit works correctly, I would not consider changing it for a Gen3 having to pay an additional €1200 for a smartwatch made in China, which is not Modular nor compatible with the Modular straps and accessories that I already have, which also it is made of steel instead of titanium, which has a (with automatic brightness) dim mode that is too dark, and which works worse with the WatchMaker app

2- In case the Gen2 head-unit is damaged, for much less than £1200 I would look for another Gen2 head-unit brand new or in perfect condition, instead of spending that money on a Gen3 (for the reasons explained in the point 1)

Maybe they just put that in so people can't send back one that's been driven over by a truck?

The point is you can walk into most Ad’s and they will give you 200 to 300 pounds off the watch anyway depending on the new 2020 model, so you are giving your watch broken or not away for free.

The titanium is still valuable and will be used again, especially if they get their hands on the lugs which are quite solid.
