If you won the lottery...

So here's a cliched kind of forum thread question, but I was just writing a post and I wrote 'if I won the lottery I'd buy more than a couple of these (Grand Carreras)'. So I'm curious to know, if you won a significant amount of money (talking at least £3m) would you expand your current collection or buy much grander brands?

I'm pretty sure I would expand my collection, pick up all the limited editions and buy a massive wall mounted watch cabinet to store them all. But I might buy a couple of really expensive things too, maybe a Royal Oak Offshore Vampire and Carrera tourbillon of some description, or maybe a Micropendulum-S.

No - in all seriousness I'd probably be focused on things like houses, travel, and vehicles (not necessarily in that order), but I'd very likely not baulk at buying the best options I could find for the watch models I already want.

A lottery win opens up all kinds of options, but I would try and resist the urge to go mad. I prefer quality over quantity. The really expensive luxury brands do nothing for me. I'd probably get a couple of vintage Heuers (a panda Carrera and a McQueen Monaco probably) and the 160th Carrera. I could be tempted with one expensive watch - a vintage Rolex Daytona would be hard to beat (not my photo). Would I be too scared to wear it, though?

I would start buying watches like Aquagraph does...

I have had an obsession with Vacheron Constantin for a while now, but I can't afford them. I owned a first gen Overseas for a little while but ended up flipping it because it was just too small...the thinness next to my Cal 5 Carrera was pretty remarkable though.

First Purchases:
VC Overseas 2nd Gen
JLC Master Compressor Extreme World Time
ALS Lange 1
CAR5A90.FC6415
CAW211W.FC6467

Immediate purchases would be:

CV5111
CW211A
CAR2080
CAR2141
IWC IW3878
Chopard Mille Miglia GTS Power Control
Porsche Design 1919 Chronotimer Flyback

More considered purchases:

JLC Reverso
ALS Lange 1 Moonphase
GO Senator Cosmopolite
GO Senator Chronometer

There would be others..... 😁😁😁

I would do this, although the Silverstone is cheating a little bit.

I’d stay exclusively Heuer / TAG Heuer! Loyalty means more than to me than just cold money. 😉

I’d ask myself, why put a ton of money into something I don’t feel any connection to? For me, It’s not always the “monetary value” but the inherent “core value” that i see and keeps me within a brand. Quality, craftmanship, precision, heritage, innovation, passion, iconic prestige, achievement, racing & motorsports and more which I definitely see ALL in Heuer / TAG Heuer. What the brand represents to us & hopefully brings out a better person of ourselves afterwards 😉

If it is was just all about money, i’m sure you’d still feel lonely and empty down the road..

Wow, how much you spent for vintage vacheron like that if you don't mind me asking ? (Approximate figure is also fine). I always like the vintage 222. VC probably my favorite among the holy trinity.

I believe if it is lottery money, it is a hot money that i need to spend quick on things that doesn't require high maintence that cannot be sustained by my current income. So watch is a good thing to have. Instead of cars or houses (unless i can rent out those cars or houses). So watch will be a choice for me.

My list:

- V4 Phantom Tourbillon
- Mikrograph bullhead (white dial)
- *another* V4 Phantom (non tourbillon this time for my daily beater).
- Carrera H02T Nanograph (probably i don't need another 45mm Carrera after i have this one)
- Vintage Carrera Dato
- Linde Werdelin Oktopus Tattoo
- Moser Alpwatch Tourbillon
- Moser Alpwatch Green dial Concept (for my dress watch)

The list could go on and on...but overall i just need 3 brands Tag Heuer, Linde Werdelin and Moser. Top of the line of each will probaly keep me quiet for years.

Is this huge enough? I have my ticket for tonight.
It should be enough! 👍 I just ask around £13.500 to include the mechanical module Heuer 02 Tourbillon in my Modular collection! 😟

Happy to give you £13.50 if I win (note the correct, non-continental usage of the decimal point!) 😉
