So far hasn't done anything worthwhile in his time as CEO. A friend of mine says that Tag are turning into Movado. He's not far wrong.
He has made several decisions with which, as a client of the brand, I do not agree at all. After JC Biver launched Gen2 of the TH Connected (all made in titanium) in 2017, so proud and enthusiastic to be Swiss Made and with its great Modular concept
😀… the new management in 2020 goes on to manufacture Gen3 in China, without Modular system, and in steel... on top of raising the price!!
😵💫. No more new generations of the Connected for me if they follow this line, and the new 2022 Gen4 also will follow it…
😒
I also did not like that the new management liquidated the historic professional sports timekeeping division, mainly motorsports. A differentiating element with other watch brands that wanted to be linked much later and artificially to the world of motorsports. Although this division gave few or no benefits, it had to be maintained, for prestige, for tradition, for being consistent with the support for motorsports.
The feeling you get with decisions like the two mentioned, is that they only seek short-term profit, rather than betting on the quality and prestige (and history) of the brand… when a watch brand is largely based on its prestige, on its image, on its history.
I don't like the current line of the Carrera Sport and Carrera Elegant either... Please give me a CAR201Z or CAR201W before any of those. It has a much more personal design on case, lugs, straps… and I also like this dial much more:
And of course, I don't like the most recent consequence of the change from JC Biver to the current management: the closure of Calibre11 website...
🙁
