Hi to all the Heuer Monaco aficionados.

I just got this Heuer Monaco a day ago and wanted to know a bit more about the rarity of the 74033 manual winds and especially the grey dial.

I see quite a lot more PVD Black Lords out there, more than the greys, so does anyone have any best guesses or info on this one, thanks. This one is a tad rough, but i like it’s appearance, not all watches need to be mint.

Very cool Monaco and definitely a (very) rare one like you mentioned. It was introduced in 1974 (along with, as you are probably aware, a 74033B--blue dial version) and includes the Valjoux 7740 movement. The 74033s were the last Monacos produced by Heuer (ending in 1975 with the Dark Lord). Also, since it has the Valjoux internals, the case of a 74033 is slimmer than its predecessor, the 1133.

Amazing find!

The Monaco Reference 74033 in either the Blue or the Gray dial is exceptionally rare. I would estimate that we see one of these offered for sale on the market maybe every year or two. Difficult to guess the number of these watches that might have been produced, but that is what we see (or don't see) on the market. Not sure whether there were more or less of the black ones produced, but for sure the black ones sell for higher prices and attract more attention.

Thinking back on the last couple of 74033 Blue and Gray that we have seen on the market, I believe that they sell for considerably less than the 1133 Blue (McQueen model); perhaps at parity with the 73663 models, but perhaps some premium for the scarcity.
It's a great watch. If you can post of send me the full serial number, I will have a look at my list and let you know what I see -- early sample, late sample, etc.

Enjoy this awesome watch!!

Thanks for the valuable info!

I was just curious of any info on this one and i’m not in it for the value point, just want to know how common this iteration is. In the pictures it’s missing it’s gasket so some gunk on the dial and a bit of degration shows thru. It’s not a mint example, it’s been around for sure, but i rather like it’s subtle worn appearance on the wrist with an corfam.

I will try to have a look for a readout of the serial. Keeping you posted.

Hi @Jeff Stein , The case number is 740303, but the serial is hard to read as the bracelet has gauged grooves right over the serial. It ends with xx6.763 but the first 6 could maybe also be a 5.

I'm not sure about the rules and regulations for selling watches on this forum, but I may be interested in this watch.

Maybe send me a PM and we can take it from there.

Thanks,

Jeff
