I guess a Gold Panda won't be in the same price range of the Panda. So I'm not too fussed.
Like the JH 88 in Gold. Don't think they sold all of them. They still have 1 on display at my Boutique.

Since the tribute to 1158CHN will be priced 22k Murican' dollares, so despite being extremely beautiful with a 18k yellow gold plated brushed dial, most members here will probably not be able to afford it (or be able to justify spending that kind of money on a TAG).

The new Skipper on the other hand is weirdly low priced so I can see some of you getting that one. Beautiful circular brushed blue dial and just the right amount of colour pop. I've never been too horny about Skippers but Dinky dong will for sure sell a ton of the new one!

They told me 6k Murican dollares so I expect Swedish price to be just below €7k

Don’t know about low price then. The 42mm elegant Carrera is 5500, also the H02 and comes on a bracelet.

If I was running the show I would easily charge around 9k for a new Skipper, a model clearly targeted only to the heritage fanatics

I was told the Skipper would be around the 10k AUD price also. Which makes the Panda a steal at $10,650.

Probably not in terms of being a faithful re-edition, that's as good as it gets. But in terms of having attractive new and different offerings, I'm excited to see these so called Carreras "re-imagined", as Nick calls them.

It's got the wrong 60s style case, so it's a no go for me. If it had the correct 70s style C case and faithful in its execution (which it's not), I might consider spending that much. But only because the 1158chn is my grail watch. OTOH, if I were to spend that kind of money, might as well stretch a bit farther and just get the real vintage deal.

I feel that's the wrong approach. Pricing a nice watch at a reasonable price will enable TAG to sell a lot more of these in the long run. I wouldn't consider buying one at 9k, but at 6k I just might.

These watches aren't LEs... as far as we know, but how long will they be available? I can't see them being open ended releases to be honest, I imagine they will be viewed as celebrating the 60th Anniversary of the Carrera so probably not available that long.

Hard to say, it probably depends upon how well a certain model sells. It would be silly of TAG to discontinue a strong seller prematurely. I suspect they might treat the playful tribute models like SEs, even if they aren't labeled as such.

I think it was the grey nato podcast guys who said that 10k chronograph is the new 5k chronograph, most Swiss brands climbing to be around 10k since it is the new normal for the products that we were used to see around 5. We will see during the next couple of years how things develop. Selling more units at a lower price seem to be a strategy very few entry level and mid tier Swiss brands aim for at the moment.

I hear you. The original means nothing to me personally so I sure like the new one a lot more  the new case is more proper Carrera to me, always found the C shaped cases a bit odd. Lucky that Heuer released those in the 70's, if that case would be brand new today with the Carrera name on it fans would lose their minds with anger :D

The thing is, I don't consider $6k to be a low price. At that price it's competitive with an Omega Speedmaster. At $9k, they're in El Primero territory, and way overpriced for a TAG (IMHO).

El Primero territory is considered overpriced on the secondary market as well, the Cronomaster sports selling at $7500 and the A384 have been going for $5000. I am hoping 6k is the target price for the new stainless steel Tag Carrera’s. Depending on my FOMO I may wait until they hit the secondary market

Indeed, that's one of the reasons I haven't pulled the trigger yet on some of the Zenith's I've been drooling over, as I prefer buying new. Low to mid $6k is what I'm hearing. Not bad, but not great, considering the standard 42mm Elegant is mid $5k-ish.
There shouldn't be a FOMO on these, they're all supposed to be just a standard part of the new 39 product line up. I prefer this type of model. Gives one a chance to assess all the new releases, not only from TAG but also other brands, before deciding on the next purchase.

I'm not sure if my next purchase will be new or vintage or nothing at all.

I’m with you there, my collection is feeling pretty good right now. I would like a black dial chronograph and a good quartz watch to add.

I really miss my CV2113 and my Bulova Lunar Pilot. A new Carrera, Speedy or Zenith could fill the black dial chronograph.

I like the new Lunar Pilots but want a bead blasted case which they decided not to make. The Solargraph for some reason just turns me on. Luckily I have time to think and I don’t really need any more watches in my collection. Everything from here on is pure pleasure.
