Hi all! I recently acquired a Heuer Carrera 73453 --- my first vintage Heuer (am so excited). I had a question on the brushed finish of the case, as it's hard to tell from searching the web - is the original factory finish on the case meant to be vertical (brushed straight up and down) or a "Sunburst" brushed finish? Specs of my timepiece: * Heuer Carrera 73453 * Made: 1970 - 1971 * Serial: 258 1XX * Mechanical movement 7734 * "first execution" dial (single marker inserts), later "Tachy" ring (TACHY printed @ 1pm), "second execution" hands If anyone has the same watch (model / year etc), I would love to see some clear photos of the case please! Thanks in advance!
Hi, looks very nice to me-congratulations! Yes, it should be vertical brushed-these Carreras did not have the 'sunburst' finish. It can be seen here on this 1153N-photo taken from https://www.watchpool24.com/en who have some lovely pieces-. Best, Steve
Hi Steve Thanks for the photo and for the reference link - much appreciated! Really helpful for me to see up close. Am I right in saying the brushing on the sides run the length of the case? (I found these images online, and it looks correct?) Once again, thanks for your help. Cheers Adam
Hi Adam, yes you are right, although the sides seem to appears better in the watch I showed above- Either way though-yes-the brushing is also on the sides and ends of the case. Steve
Thanks all round guys! I love knowing all the details Am stoked to have this Heuer as part of my collection (I'm sure it will be the first of many)
