·For sale from my collection is this beautiful Heuer Autavia ‘Andretti’, reference 3646 with rare ‘Fab Suisse’ dial.
“For those who love motorsports, Heuer is a familiar name. Probably the most iconic model of the Heuer era is the Autavia, a chronograph wristwatch that was launched in 1962. The name Autavia is a combination of “AUTomobile” and “AVIAtion”, reflecting the dual purpose of the watch as a dashboard instrument and a wristwatch.
In 1966 and 1967, Mario Andretti was awarded two ref. 3646 Autavias by the auto publication Motor Age featuring the magazine's logo on the dial at six o'clock. Mr. Andretti frequently wore both of these watches in the following decades on his rise to become one of the greatest drivers in motorsport history. As a result, this ref. 3646 has been nicknamed the "Andretti" by Heuer collectors. “
This example is in beautiful, original and unpolished condition. The case has beautifully beveled lugs that are still sharp, with no major scratches or damage, just some small signs of wear.
The panda dial is in good overall condition, and all original. The lume plots have mostly disappeared over time. It has a sought after ‘Fab Suisse’ dial.
The watch runs on the famous Valjoux 92 movement which keeps great time, and all chronograph functions perform exactly as they should. Service history unknown.
The serial number can clearly be seen at the base of the case between the lugs. Serial number: 97.xxx (1968).
Priced at 8500 euro net to me.
Watch is shipped out of the Netherlands.
Bank wire payment preferred.
DHL express shipment is available for actual costs.
(Import tax/customs etc. is buyers responsibility)
Pictures are part of the description.
No Return.
