I don't mid the milky ring. My dislike is on how much the TH glassbox dome is so arched and robs significant visibility from the dial.

Yet you have bought a couple of watches with this flaw..... and really, how often, if ever, do you view the dial at 5 degrees from the horizontal?

Three if you count my pre-order for this one. 😵‍💫

To me the crystal should be as invisible as possible. Yet with the glassbox models, the dome is so dominant, it becomes a distraction.

Unless you read the dial at roughly a perpendicular angle, the distortions are all over. Other owners have a similar complaint.

If TH reduced the span of the "dome", the loss of visibility would be mitigated.

Just as I was previously stating with the Omegas, the Zenith's El Primero 38mm uses a 90 degree angle, so no dial visibility lost..

As stated earlier the 39mm CV Carrera’s had sharp angle crystals, similar to the Zenith above. For the Telemeter TH opted for the domed crystal to resemble the original Carrera.

I sold a CV2111 late last year. Loved It, but the crystal was kinda boring to my mortal eyes.

I used to have a CV2113. The crystal doesn't extend above the case, and as a result, the bezel is kind of bloated (and a bit rounded). Doesn't quite have the angular beauty of the original Carrera or the reissues.

In my experience a rounded sapphire crystal ends up looking better - the square sapphire is just ugly IMO. We'll see how I feel with this one but the crystal on the Hodinkee Skipper didn't bother me at all... didn't even notice it really

I don’t know what you guys are talking about. The crystal extends above the case. It’s a sort of square edge glass-box. I like it a lot. The only improvement on the later Carrera is the narrow bezel. But at least you avoid the milky ring.

No distortion:
That's a different crystal. The distortion is very noticeable on the glassbox domes introduced with the Telemeter a few years ago and also used in the Hodinkee Skipper, the Rake's Blue Dreamer, the Fragment Fujiwara, and now the 160th Anniversary Carrera.

I see no issue with yours. 👍

Which one do you prefer for a more classic look? 😉
Both! But would love to see a black dial with no decimals and long markers.

i agree! I’d like to see a cleaner version on a black dial using the simplistic classic design of the carrera 160 👍

No dial markers is a dealbreaker for me. I think the Fragment looks strange

I'm going to admit I actually slightly prefer the Fragment. I think it's well-designed aesthetically. Slightly busy perhaps, but also pretty unique. The subdials on the silver just look a little small to me, but it's pretty special too. Having said all that, I reserve judgement till I've seen the silver in hand. Not sure some of the renders do it justice.

Not a popular opinion I'm sure. And there are definitely things about the 160th that appeal too, such as the simplicity. I guess it just goes to prove there's no such thing as the perfect watch!

Pure speculation -- but if there's a panda and/or black dialed version of the 160th, the fragment Carrera will likely be less scrutinized.
