Help with a Carrera 73653 case

Hello forum members,

I have a questions about the 73653 cases. I'm potentially looking at buying an example pending better pictures, however the seller said that the ref. and servial # are not visible between the lugs.

This can mean that the watch has been highly polished, but by the looks of the case, it seems as though it has wear and lived an honest life. Is it possible that the bracelet wore the numbers out and therefore they are no longer present?

Thank you in advance for the comments/feedback.

Cushion-case Carreras that I've seen tend to have a lot of wear on the serial and ref #s - they were engraved right where the top of the bracelet end links met the case, and I think many of them have simply rubbed off over the years.
