Have what I think to be a 1500 but can't find anything on the refrence number (I think the reference number) 955.706G. Can not find anything with "G" in it. Any help would be appreciated thanks

That is a little unusual- do you have a shot showing the dial? 955.706 is the correct reference for a bi-metal 1500, but, as you'd know, most don't have a letter after the numbers. I'm also not too sure about that caseback.

Where did you buy the watch?

My dad got it for my a while back never told me if it was real or a knockoff. Appreciate the reply! Here is a picture of the face. One with flash and one without not sure if it matter.

I think it's OK...but just not sure. The caseback should look like this- hard to tell if yours does, as your flash is bouncing off the metal on the caseback

Note this also has the "G" suffix

I can confirm it is a correct model. As the updates went 955.706D, 955.706G, 955.706G-2. Which is a WD1121/D, WD1121/G & WD1121/G-2 in current serial number form

Thanks Mark- it's the only series I can recall with that reference format?

Plus, the pattern background on the engraving of the TAG Heuer logo is unusual for the 1500- quite different to the 2000/4000/6000

Thank you both for your info, it have been very helpful! Any idea on why the backing may be different? Also maybe a year on it?

I doubt there's any real reason- could be as simple as they wanted to give the 1500 its own style caseback.

Yes, the possible year range on this is quite narrow. The 1500 was launched in 1990 and TAG Heuer began to change the format of their reference numbers in 1992/ 93, when 955.706 became WD1121- so yours is somewhere in between 1990-1993
