UPS update. Monday. Ugh.
Sinn may well view it as a "partnership"...but Jack Heuer certainly doesn't. I made the mistake of asking him once about the Sinn Bund watches...the polite version is that he felt that Sinn had "stolen" his watches, because even though they were sold to the army as Heuers, the service contract belonged to Sinn. And when those watches came in for a service, Mr. Sinn helpfully replaced the old Heuer dial...with a new Sinn dial.
Hah that is terrible! At least with the 903 Helmut payed for stealing a design from Breitling 🙄
Hope it doesn't go back to Kentucky or Japan. Joke, sorry - I actually feel for you, seeing it bounce all over. I know what it's like to be anxiously waiting for something like that. Looking forward to some pics too!
Guess what! They sent it off to Albuquerque, NM. Apparently only the import fee was showing up at my nearby location. It was hanging out in Louisville by way of the Milky Way galaxy for the entire day yesterday.
Oh well. See ya Monday.
Thanks David, I am still regretting not having bought the Sinn 155 Manufactum for 990 EUR in 2008. If I remember correctly they did not sell very well and were available for two or three years.
In 2012 Helmut Sinn sold a couple of watches from his private collection, includindg two or three Heuer Bund in excellent condition. I was lucky enough to get one of them. The funny thing is that is was equipped wih a NOS Heuer Dial instead a Sinn one. He sold the original Heuer Tritium 3H dial to me, too.
Stealing? This is an interesting theory. I always thought that the 903 is a direct successor to the vintage Navitimers as Sinn was one of the companies that was one of the companies that acquired parts of the Breitling name, designs and/or parts when Breitling was liquidated in 1979?
BTW, another company that was once owned by Helmut Sinn is offering a watch with a design heavily inspired (or stolen? 😉) from the Heuer Bund: Guinand Starfighter Pilot Chronograph.

Just a glance will tell you that the Heuer Pasadena is “strongly inspired” by the Porsche Design Chronograph 1, a revolutionary watch designed by Ferdinand Alexander Porsche, better known as the designer of the iconic Porsche 911.
😀
The only Sinn watch I own is in fact a stolen (or at least a borrowed) design: The Sinn 103 is a copy of the Breguet XX.

Dear C11 friends, a Dark Star has arrived in Losinngeles, CA. Enjoy!
As we're on the topic of vintage inspired pilot watches of similar design (who's borrowing from who?), I just happened to notice this beauty...

It's another LE, but the price is way to high for me.
Congrats on receiving your watch, it looks great!!! You should've gotten some passport stamps go along with all the cities its been through on the way to LA. LOL. 😉
Thanks for posting those very nice pics. I really like the wrist shots. One detail that appeals to me is how nicely tailored the bund strap fits the contours of the watch. Do you think you'll wear it with the nato straps supplied?

Wow- congrats on Ara, that looks fantastic.
I can’t wait to get mine now.
Mine was slated for delivery yesterday and had a call from Fedex to pay my $652 in import taxes. Never whipped my Credit Card out quicker to pay a tax bill in my life.
Kept waiting all day for it to arrive - alas it didn’t make it.
Hoping mine hasn’t gone the way of Ara’s ...
i.e. . Via the Milky Way 😵💫
