You could put just 'Mr_Orange' there, not your real name 😉

Or a bunch 'spaces', i.e. blank on the shirt.

Yes of course. I guess they try to make it closer to the Steve’s racing overalls with the 'Michael Delaney' name written there

^I think someone touched up that photo. Steve is wearing his own racing overalls, not the Gulf striped movie outfit. On his own racing suit, he has his own name and without Heuer & Firestone.

Sure there were at least two different racing overalls, because there are many pictures showing the Heuer logo and the Michael Delaney name, including the cover of my Blu-Ray copy of the movie.

And yes, in that particular picture, it seems a mix of the Steve’s personal overalls with the McQueen name without Gulf stripes, and the one with the Heuer logo and the stripes… it’s weird, maybe the picture is touched, or maybe that was a third different racing overalls for the movie 😕

In the movie, Steve's character just wore one racing suit, the one with the double blue & orange-red vertical stripe. The other racing overall that is often seen is not the movie outfit, it's Steve's personal racing suit, as he used to compete professionally in races. His personal suit did not have a Heuer & Firestone patch, or the double Gulf stripe. It had "Steve McQueen", not his character "Michael Delaney" on it.

Yes, I saw the difference between both racing overalls (personal and movie), and then edited my comment… too late 😁

This one seems a mix of both… maybe a touched picture? Maybe a third different racing overalls, like a prototype for the movie that was later modified?

Stick on should have been just below the bonnet shut?, front doesn’t look quite right the way it is.

I was just browsing thru some older auction listings from Phillips and saw this. Thought I might share it here. Heuer, Siffert, Porsche and Gulf.

Here's some Gulf attire with an added Heuer bonus.

Logos on the belly of a shirt only look good if you have a flat stomach. I think I'm past that now!

The shorts would be fine if they weren't made to look like cut off overalls, complete with rough threads. The design would look good as swim shorts.
