My grandfather, turning 80 this year, is a life long fan of Formula 1 and he is my number one friend with whom I can discuss F1. He traveled to many races and still to this day he speaks of Monaco in the 70's as some of the highlights of his life. He gifted me copies of some amazing photography from what I believe to be to a large extent from the 1975 Swedish Grand Prix (basing this assumption on the fact that Torsten Palm's car was there and he was in F1 only for one season if I am correct). But I also believe some photos are from other years since Internet tells me Walter Wolf Racing was not in F1 until 1976 for example. Anyway, I felt I wanted to share this piece of Formula 1 history gold with ya'll.

I don't know all the cars and people in these photos, I am sure some of the senior members of the forum can bring some additional light to the content presented below and also correct me if I got some of it incorrect.

March car of Vittorio Brambilla

Hesketh Racing, driven by Swede Torsten Palm

Female driver Lella Lombardi's car

Mario Andretti, VPJ Racing

Carlos Pace, Martini Racing

James Hunt

John Watson

Niki Lauda

The mega legend around my neck of the woods, what I think is Ronnie himself next to the black and gold JP Lotus. Oh, and is that a gold Carrera on his wrist? 😎

If I'm not mistaken, the man sitting next to Lauda, dressed in blue, is Luca Di Montezemolo. Then team principal for Ferrari F1, who later in life became company chairman. 000011-jpg.1747154

Amazing photos Jim. Did your grandfather take all these? I'd be surprised if they're not worth something.

Interesting. There are more photos of those two together, I will check if I can find one showing him better/closet

Thanks! The first one with Jacky is probably my favourite photo of them all, it truly captures the casual vibe of this era in F1. Just chillaxing in cheap campsite chairs.

Correct, he has taken all of them himself. The ones uploaded are not all of them, I just chose some of my favourites. Perhaps I should reach out to RACEWKND magazine to see if they want to buy some photos.

Tremendous collection, taken in an era when F1 didn’t have the world wide appeal it has now due to telly coverage, there could be interest at a specialist auction? Happy to see more.

Incredible pictures! Love seeing old F1 photography. My great-uncle was a photographer for F1 and was unfortunately killed in the 1975 Spanish Grand Prix. I wonder if the two of them ever crossed paths?

awesome! yes, the man listed there is Stirling Moss, perhaps after interviewing Hunt during the famous “big balls!” comment? Or when Moss famously dismissed reporters at the Monaco GP *(sic)…”look, one doesn’t come to Monaco to hang around with men, so excuse me!” and wanders off (off camera there was a young lass that had just walked by and caused quite a stir, lol)
