I think Time + Tide might be trying to make markets for some watches they own, or may have confused the 11630 GMT market for that of the 2446C GMT as of last year (which has also since contracted...) Yours is in good condition and is a beautiful watch, but top end would be around half your asking price based on recent offerings

I paid well over EUR 10,000 for it a while back myself.

And just my luck - when I was looking for AGES, there were no good ones around.

So having asked around I am quite happy with my price. And I saw that the one at Casowatches is not in comparable condition. I am in no need or hurry to sell so will just see how it goes. :)

Patience is key. If I were about 20 years old and 20 years richer, I would buy it off you right now. But that is not the case haha. It is absolutely gorgeous though. Congrats! Sad that you are selling it!

@abrod520 Maybe you are being flippant, but that is a very unfair comment.

    1. I can tell you than no one at Time+Tide has one of these watches
    2. Editorially, that is not how T+T rolls
    3. See attached from Chrono24- what about their "Hovering around the $10-15k USD mark" is untrue? Now you might say that Chrono24 is overpriced, but if you loved a vintage watch and were writing an article and needed a price range to drop into the story, where would you go?

I don't have any issue with you saying that they're wrong in your opinion, but to infer they are being mischievous is wide of the mark.

Full disclosure, I am a Co-founder/ shareholder of Time+Tide, although had nothing to do with this article (nor do I have an Autavia GMT :( )

OK, but given the increasing numbers of articles about watches based on investment value and then seeing them suggest a value 100% higher than most are trading at, you can't quite call me mischievous or flippant for making that inferral when the value suggested is double what they're actually selling for.

Yes, Chrono24 is way too high and should never be used as a guide for either value or condition, especially by those in the know and especially in this instance since recent private sales (which this is) are more around the US $7500 mark.

September, listed by HQ Milton who are a dealer: https://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=628962

October, listed for 10k EUR but reduced to 8k EUR ask, then sold somewhere below that mark: http://chronocentric.com/forums/chronotrader/index.cgi?page=1;md=read;id=95517

I'm glad to continue discussing this in another thread or PM so that we don't turn our man's sales post into a referendum - though I'm sure he doesn't mind the bumping ::bleh::

That had occurred to me, but I have not seen a differential in value between the two. Rarer, yes, but the market so far has not made a distinction in prices.

Out of interest, how do you know this one sold below €10k? It was never listed below €10,000 as far as I can see. Peter originally purchased it for €8,000 + the GF BoR for €1,500.

I was the one who purchased it from Peter.

    From the listing:

What you paid for it though is your own business!

Yes, so as I said above. That bit you've quoted was a copy and paste from the original listing that Peter bought it from if you read it properly. He was listing it for €10k.

You've then stated that I bought it for less than €8k without any knowledge whatsoever.

Guess I missed that bit of the copy. My bad.

However: Given the original ad was put up on October 4th and was not marked as sold until November 10th, I assumed the intervening month-and-a-week included some negotiation - after all, watches that are priced right (or undervalue) usually go immediately.

Out of curiosity (since we're discussing it now) did the 10k EUR you paid include the bracelet or not?

I never said I paid €10k and as you said previously, that's my business

Just please don't go making assumptions and pointing out outliers as the market norm

OK, yes, what you paid is your business. But if you managed to negotiate down from 10k EUR (as you should have), then why do you think someone else should pay 15k US? Would that not then be the outlier, not the multiple watches selling in the 7-8k US / EUR range that I have suggested?

I don't have the front to suggest what someone else should sell their own watch for. If it's over-priced for the market it won't sell. Simples.

My issue with your posts was that you suggested knowledge of prices paid by other people, when you don't actually have a clue.
