Free servicing at Watchfinder?

Anyone else get an email from WF offering a free service (and polish) for *any* watch? It seemed too good to be true, so I ignored it at first, but they sent me a reminder and I decided to send my Grand Carrera in. I thought, okay I'm going to have to insure the parcel for £1600, so that will cost a bit, but still...

But then WF said they will send me a pre-paid pack to return the watch in.

I got so suspicious that I actually contacted them to make sure I wasn't being scammed... but no it is genuine.

I guess they email is only going to people who have bought watches from them, but you don't have to send in watches that you bought from them. It seems a bit odd, but at the end of the day, if I get my GC serviced and refinished for nothing, then..... why the hell wouldn't I?

What is the purpose of this thread? A flex that you be VIP with WF. Well done sir, well done. I bet they return your grand watch with a complementary bottle of champagne.

PHA-Q
I was just wondering if anyone else got the same email.... or am I really that good a customer?

Plus it might make someone else who ignored the email think again and take advantage of the offer.

Besides, why I am justifying myself to you with your paltry 6709 posts?

You don't even own a single Aquaracer!

I've bought a couple of watches from WF before, including my Grand Seiko recently. I didn't get the email (or if I did, I deleted it).

Maybe it is only VIPs then?

Must be - I’ve bought numerous watches from them and not a sausage! The fact I have nothing which needs a service helps though…..

But seriously, I have bought 5 watches from them I think, but probably less than £4000 in total.

I got this email too. It was a bit puzzling, as you say, so I’m wondering what the catch is (there doesn’t appear to be an obvious one).

Perhaps it’s just a way of drumming up interest in their service centre? I’m guessing sales of watches must be down for them, so it could be a decent revenue stream for them going forward if the awareness is there.

The catch is.... if you send back a watch that isn't bought from them you have to pay for the postage yourself. As I just found out. But still, that's fair enough. I couldn't understand why they were willing to send me a pre-paid box for a watch that I didn't buy from them anyway. In fact, I can't really understand why they are offering to service watches they didn't sell. Would make more sense to offer free servicing to their customers but only for the watches bought from them.

They did actually send me the pre-paid box, but when I queried the part number on the label WAV5111 instead of WAV511J they said that was the only GC number they could find on my account. So when I cleared that up then she said, oh you'll have to send it to us then.

So much for the VIP treatment - ahahahaha

Still a cheap service though, I just had my hifi amp serviced, I had to deliver and collect it, and pay for the service.

Yeah, I imagine others who have bought from WF will get an email eventually. I imagine they are working through the customer database, they aren't going to want everyone sending in their watch at once. My surname starts with a C so I would be near the front of the queue.

As does mine, but I haven’t bought anything from them since 2018 when I left Canary Wharf.

when I looked they didn’t list tag heuer as one of their brands - but I suppose they can service anything within reason and provide the 2 year warranty….

They have 208 TAGs for sale at the moment, and yes with two year warranty

Yes, I know they sell TAGs. the point I was making is that they are not a tag certified service centre, but they are for other brands such as omega, iwc etc. (I didn’t make that clear before).

Still, as they give the warranty on the work all is good.

I don’t believe anybody can claim to be an authorised TAG Heuer Service Centre (in the U.K. at least) - last time I checked they didn’t offer any form of accreditation for third party watchmakers like other brands do. I could be wrong though
