Hi

I own a Tag Heuer Formula 1 watch, it’s 3 years old and the number on the back panel are CAU111E and WRL6542. (See first pic). The rubber strap has snapped, for the second time in three years, so I’m looking for a new strap, that isn’t rubber, that would fit the watch. Does the strap on the Aquaracer shown in the second attached photo fit my Formula 1? Or do you know of a strap that has a hint of yellow in it that would fit my watch? Preferably a Tag Heuer strap though.

David would probably be able to confirm, but I know the F1 is 20mm and I asume the Aquaracer is too. I am surprised you've snapped the rubber strap though.... I find TAG straps to be pretty well made. Do you come into contact with something that could damage the rubber?

No I don’t think I do. I only wear this Formula 1, one week in three as I have another Tag Heuer plus a Rado that I rotate on a weekly basis. The first time the strap snapped I could see the rubber starting to crack, but this time there was no sign at all.

My gut is telling me that nylon strap will fit, but I think the Aquaracer's pins might be a little deeper in the lugs. Those F1s I think the pins are really close to the edge and the closed lug design might mean the AR strap doesn't want to move as it should... but I can't be sure about that.

It's a pity the Aquaracer rubber straps are fitted to the lug/case shape as the black rubber with yellow backing would have been perfect.

Would any know if the strap in the photo may fit my Formula 1. The photo of the strap is from a 2018 Formula 1.

I think that is a 22mm strap for 43mm Formula 1's, so no. Sorry.

Thanks for the quick reply. Do you know then a 20mm Tag Heuer strap, even if it’s rubber, that would fit my watch. Preferably not the original strap considering the history I’ve had with it.

I had a similar watch to yours (which came on the FT6024 strap) and I couldn't get on with the clasp, so I bought a BT0714 pin and buckle rubber strap for it. Fitted perfectly and it was very comfortable and durable. I sold mine on eBay a couple of weeks ago, but you can get them from an AD for about £45 (or £150 on eBay - hahaha).
