Things were simpler in the 1960s. Fewer constraints perhaps? Now, there are so many requirements to be taken into consideration, many of which are no doubt financial, such as getting maximum return on investment in a particular movement and making sure that it works in a multitude of case designs. Also the need to appeal to modern buyers. No doubt Tag were adamant they had to have a sapphire crystal, but in getting it to try and look "vintage", it's compromised the look slightly.

Wednesday night is wine and a movie night, so, a nice Malbec and the Rush Blu-ray sounds good, not seen it lately, from my early motor racing passion days.

The movie is INSPIRED and based on the true story of Carroll Shelby, Ken Miles & Ford GT40’s triumphant Le Mans ‘66. It was not meant to be a documentary-accurate biography. The people behind the movie thought it will be more of an INSPIRATION to use Heuer chronographs simply because of its rich history in classic motorsports other than it just looks good & COOL on the two characters  Kudos to the movie & TAG Heuer for the props! I guess it was more BELIEVABLE for the movie by using Heuer chronographs than using a Rolex or Breitling ;) haha

The KING of COOL himself with Ken Miles!

    CTTO this pic

Saw the film last night. It's great. Mangold is a fantastic director.

Those brake lights lighting up from the heat might've been my favorite detail outside of the 2 Heuer chronos.

Speaking of, now that I've seen the film, I'm totally convinced the Carrera is way too large to be an original piece. No one can convince me otherwise -- not Hubert, not heuer1860, not imagwai, not even DC. No one I say.

Hey, don't blame me! I suggested this could have been made for the movie as a prop-watch. Or maybe a special watch created by TAG Heuer for them. ;)

I sure hope you're right! It looked great on a 70ft screen.

The world needs more vintage inspired Carrera. These are trying times.

I'd love it if TAG Heuer would release a Ford v Ferrari edition of Damon's/Shelby's movie Carrera watch.

It would make sense. That dial configuration has been in place since the beginning. In recent memory with the JH Carrera and Telemeter. I believe I read in one of DC’s pieces it’s Jack Heuer’s favourite dial.

Finally got to see it tonight. Great stuff, enjoyed it very much! Close-ups of the Rindt on Miles’ wrist and the prominent role of the Carrera on Shelby’s were a real treat. That Carrera is a prop or prototype without a single doubt. A beautifully sized 38/39mm watch. Show me a Buy button please!

Just watched the movie. It's also featuring 2 Heuer Stopwatches. Image is a bit blurry, sorry.

How do you know the stopwatches are Heuer? They seem unbranded and I recall Shelby (Damon) joking that they're Italian.

Seems like the top subdial says Heuer to me.

Hmmm, not sure. A bit of an ink block test if you ask me. I'm gonna have to rewatch that scene on my blu-ray now. LOL.

The logo gets garbled at higher resolution, but they appear to be similar to the 2915a stopwatch-

I can't find an actual version that has a 12-hour dial, but the logo placement on the subdial is consistent. Maybe it was a production mockup of some other chronograph since they coudn't find genuine ones?
